Opportunities for protecting biodiversity
Biodiversity is the life support factor. It is crucial for people for reasons related to both the environment and climate protection. It is vital for the protection of human health and for the maintenance of our economy. However, biodiversity is declining at an alarming rate: scientists say about 200 species are disappearing every day.
The EU and its Member States are committed to putting biodiversity on the road to recovery by 2030. The EU's 2030 Biodiversity Strategy is committed to creating a network of well-managed protected areas covering at least 30% from the EU's land and sea basins. The strategy is a key element of the European Green Pact.
In Bulgaria, after 1988, basic laws were created that regulate and guarantee the protection of biodiversity and the environment.
Some of them are:

- Law on Biological Diversity - it regulates all issues related to the use and conservation of biological diversity.

- Law on Medicinal Plants - regulates the protection and use of medicinal plants (collection and purchase of herbs).

- Law on Environmental Protection - regulates issues related to protection and control over the state of the environment, protection of biodiversity, reduction of pollution, protection of water, soil and air.
The culture of a nation is determined by its attitude towards nature and biodiversity. Today, their protection is an absolute, vital necessity and one of the most important tasks of humanity.
