The place has been inhabited since the time of the Thracians, but the first fortification was built by the Byzantines in 4th century. In the 13th-14th century. Ovech became a powerful administrative and military center with a permanent population. 

Among the valuable finds are two inscriptions of Khan Omurtag from the time of his campaigns against the Franks and Magyars. The impressive view from the fortress to the Provadian plateau will not leave you indifferent.

 The fortress itself is reached by a newly built eco-path, at the end of which rises a spiral staircase with 110 steps.

The Seven Rila Lakes

The lakes are located in the Damg region of Northwestern Rila and are located stepwise between 2095 and 2535 m above sea level. They occupy depressions on the mountainside, and the individual lakes are connected to each other by small streams. During the passage of the water along these streams, small waterfalls and rapids were formed. The first three lakes - the Tear, the Eye, and the Kidney - each drain separately into Bliznaka, from which the water passes successively through Trilistnika, Ribnoto, and Dolnoto lake. A more powerful stream flows through the last two lakes, which, flowing out of the lowermost lake, gives rise to the Jerman River (a left tributary of the Struma).

Veliko Tarnovo is a city located in Northern Bulgaria. The city was the capital of the Second Bulgarian State and the Principality of Bulgaria in the period 1878-1879. During the Middle Ages, it was called Tarnovgrad, gradually becoming known as Tarnovo. 

On July 27, 1965, "Veliko" was added in front of it in honor of the city's former glory. Thanks to its rich cultural and historical heritage, Veliko Tarnovo is an important tourist center.

There are many historical places you can visit. One of them is the Tsarevets fortress. Tsarevets is a medieval stronghold located on a hill with the same name in&nbsp;Veliko Tarnovo&nbsp;in northern&nbsp;Bulgaria. Tsarevets is 206 metres (676&nbsp;ft) above sea level.&nbsp;It served as the&nbsp;Second Bulgarian Empire's primary fortress and strongest bulwark between 1185 and 1393, housing the royal and the patriarchal palaces, and it is also a popular tourist attraction. Another landmark is Samovodska Bazaar. It is a picturesque street in Veliko Tarnovo with Renaissance architecture. It was created in the middle of the 19th century. Farmers sell their produce on the new street.

Northern Bulgaria

Hotnishki Waterfall

In the small village of Hotnitsa, near Veliko Tarnovo, there is a very beautiful waterfall with crystal blue water. To get to the waterfall, we have to cross a small bridge. It is about 30 meters high and forms a beautiful pool. The place is suitable for a picnic, there is a shelter in case of bad weather.

It is also an interesting fact that there is a Hotnishki trail that is about 1.5 kilometers long. The beginning starts from the left of the waterfall. To walk the eco-path, we have to cross steep bridges and stairs. On the way to the top of the eco path, you can see many interesting waterfalls and a unique view. In late spring, everything is covered with emerald green, and he himself is at his most waterlogged as a result of the intense spring rains. The walk takes about 1 hour, but the view is worth it. I recommend everyone to visit this place.

Borov Kamak waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in Bulgaria. The waterfall is very picturesque and can be reached by an attractive eco-trail. Borov Kamak waterfall is fed by the Leva River - the same one that forms that beautiful gorge near the town of Vratsa - Vrattsata. The trail to Borov Kamak waterfall starts on the outskirts of the village of Zgorigrad in Vratsa. In addition to the large Borov Kamak waterfall, many more waterfalls can be seen on the eco-path to it, and they are also very beautiful. If you are a nature lover, you shoud dfinitely visit this place. It reminds of a magic land full of stories.

The seat of LTU is in the locality "Voden".LTU "Iri-Hisar" with an area of 6366.7 ha, also located in three municipalities - Glavinitsa, Zavet and Isperih. The seat of LTU is in the locality "Iri Hisar".On the territory of the hunting farm, broad-leaved species predominate - cypress, linden, sycamore, ash, acacia, hornbeam, summer oak. From conifers, black and white pine are found - only 0.5% of the stock. On average, the annual growth of the stand is about 42,300 m3, and the use is about 12,500 m3.Regeneration is natural and ubiquitous, so no afforestation is foreseen. Farming is carried out by proper felling to preserve local species.In terms of age, the tree stand is one of the oldest in the country. 25% of the area is occupied by forests over 120 years old, 30% of the area is over 80 years old.Of interest is the rich arboretum, located on an area of about 600 decares.

REPRESENTATION The main activity of the farm is agriculture. The characteristic features related to the ownership of significant areas of fertile, highly productive land, the possibility of full mechanization of activities and all this as part of the so important biotope of the main game species, have helped the farm to be permanently engaged in agriculture and cultivate 12,000 decares. The main crops are wheat, barley, corn, oats, sunflower. One third of the fields are left 100% to game for girdling.

HISTORY In Turkish times, the Vodenska Gora was the property of the local surrounding villages. In the 50s of the 19th century, it was conquered by Mahzar Pasha - then a military inspector and son of Vizier Rashid Pasha - a courtier and a close friend of the Turkish Sultan. Since then, the forest, as well as the village located in it, bear the name of the Ottoman ruler. The injured villages did not reconcile and filed a lawsuit against the shepherd, which lasted for 15 years. The decision of the Turkish court from 1876 was in their favor. It was confirmed by a Bulgarian court in 1881.In 1884, the Bulgarian government declared the forest state property. In 1924, after another court case, 40 decares were set aside from the state forest in the area of the tylbeto. These changes cause the need for additional measurements for the new Management Plan of the State Forest "Vodenska", prepared in 1938 and approved by Decree No. 37/19.05.1939, promulgated in the Official Gazette on 2.06.1939.Meanwhile, changes also occur in the name of the forest. In the 1930s, the renaming of Bulgarian villages, forests and localities bearing Turkish names began. Thus, the old village was renamed the village of Voden. The name is given because of the large spring "Bash Bunar", which is located in the middle of the forest. By order of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1937, the forest was named Vodenska.For many years, the forest was part of the Razgrad Administrative Forestry and was located on the land of the village of Ostrovo. Since 1937, it has been separated into an independent forest district "Vodensko" with its headquarters in the village of Voden.

Although we did not meet any of the inhabitants of the cave, we knew that there were four species of bats living here in the unlit halls - the large and small horseshoe bat, the tricolor night bat, and the great night bat. They are a highly endangered species and are protected by law. In addition to bats, various troglobiotes are also found in Snezhanka cave. These are small colorless animals living underground. Away from sunlight, they have lost their pigmentation and vision, but have compensated with their senses through a better sense of smell, taste, and hearing.

Southern Bulgaria

Koprivshtitsa is the heart of&nbsp;Bulgarian Revival architecture. In the 19th century, the town was at the center of the&nbsp;April Uprising, one of the most important revolutions in Bulgarian history. Walk down ancient cobbled streets lined with colorful 200-year-old houses, many of which have been turned into museums – peek inside to get an idea of what life used to be like almost two centuries ago.

It's located on 111 km east of Sofia.&nbsp;The town is a cultural and historic reserve. Apart from an enormous collection of ethnographic treasures, architectural monuments, national costumes, typical Bulgarian jewelry, traditional household weaves, etc, Koprivshticha is the centre of April's urprising and the first shots fired in Koprivshtitsa in 1876.&nbsp; 

Karadzov Stone is located in Southern Bulgaria, 33 km from Asenovgrad. Asenovgrad is the largest non-regional city in Bulgaria and the largest in Rhodopes mountain. The population of the city is 50,859 people. You can get to Karadzov Stone by car or by bus. Not exactly to the stone, but you can drive to the church of Cross Forest. There are parking lots. After that, you have to walk a lot. We walked around 13 km total in both directions. When you arrive at the stone you have 2 options. The first one is to stay down if you don't want to climb or you are scared of heights. The second one and the one that I recommend is to climb the stairs and the rocks. Be careful, it's slippery. It's not that hard, don't give up. When you are on the top you can see everything: the mountains, the forest, the church where you parked and the town. It's really beautiful, you should not miss it. Take a rest up there the way back is harder. You have to go down the same stairs if you can call them that. Most of it is a rope and cavities in the rock. The Karadzov stone performed the function of a sanctuary during the early Iron Age and late antiquity. After visiting Karadjov stone you can go and see Cross forest and Belintash, too. These places are really beautiful. Stop thinking, just find some free time to go and visit them.

Rezovo is the southernmost settlement on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is located 11 km south of Sinemorets. The population of this peaceful village is 81 people. You can get there by car even though it's pretty far from here. In the past, Rezovo was a port settlement. In its surroundings, there are traces of metallurgical activity in many places. In the area of Selski dol, 3-4 km west of the village, in addition to ore mining, there is also a Thracian mound necropolis. In the last 10 years, the village has been revived and has become a favorite place for people looking for privacy and calmness. On Cape Kastrich, 3 km north of Rezovo, there are the remains of the small fortress of Castricion. To the north of Rezovo is the protected area of Silistar, interesting for its rich flora and fauna. A preserved deposit of pure white sand lily can be seen here. To the south is the valley of the Rezovska river, with beautiful rock formations and a lot of rapids flowing into quiet river sections. The bay is a wintering ground for waterfowl. Cute otters can be seen hunting in the sea. Along the course of the river passes the border with Turkey. There are amazing beaches. The shore there is rocky, with coves hidden between the cliffs.&nbsp;Many birds can be observed in the surrounding area. You can also go horse riding in the area. The beauty of Rezovo's nature is absolutely breathtaking. This small village is worth visiting.

"Srebarna" is a spectacular biosphere reserve in Bulgaria, included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The area was declared a reserve in 1948 with a protected area of about 892.05 ha. It is located in northeast Bulgaria. Near the village of Srebarna, 16 km west of Silistra and 2 km south of the Danube River. Covers lake Srebarna and its surroundings. The reserve has animals and endangered animals, plants, and endangered and rare plants. For those who love sightseeing, here is the right place. For animals and plant lovers, there are many species. There are otters, curly-headed Pelican, Syrian garlic, and many other birds. Of the plants, there is the reed, the thin-leaved papur, the red willow, and others. Don't miss the gallery where many pictures show the reserve. The most famous attraction is the lake located by the Danube River. Its depth varies from 1 to 3 m, and its area is 2 - 2.5 km2. You really ought to visit the natural science museum at the "Srebarna" biosphere reserve has an exhibition of stuffed inhabitants of the reserve. The birds in the reserve can be observed from the museum. A video camera is placed in the heart of the marsh where the pelicans nest, and by video link the picture and sounds are transmitted to a screen in the museum. You can't be bored in the eco-path. The path has been built around the reserve, and at a certain distance along there are comfortable benches for rest, and observation platforms have been built, from where birds can be observed. If you like nature, "Srebarna" is the place for you. The reserve is the perfect choice for weekend journeys and funny moments. Visiting all of these places is an unforgettable experience that will stay with you forever. After these, you can visit Silistra where you can enjoy many landscapes. "Vacha" (formerly "Antonivanovtsi" from April 5, 1960 to June 11, 1999) is a dam in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the Rhodopes, along the river Vacha, on the border between the districts of Smolyan, Pazardzhik and Plovdiv. The Vacha Dam is an annual leveler and the second most important reservoir (after the Dospat Dam) of the Dospat-Vacha Cascade, collecting the processed waters from the Devin Hydroelectric Power Plant along with the additional inflow of the Vacha River below it. The dam wall is located 12 kilometers south of Krichim, and the dam continues for about 15 kilometers along the narrow valley of the Vacha to the village of Mikhalkovo. The dam lake enters the lands of the town of Krichim and the villages of Mikhalkovo, Selcha, Osikovo, Fotinovo and Ravnogor. The lake occupies an area of 5.0 km², and its total volume is 226.2 million cubic meters. The dam wall is the highest in Bulgaria - 144.5 m. It is concrete-gravity and has a crown length of 420 m.

A wide variety of fish live in the reservoir - grass carp, bream, whitefish, carp, carp, mullet, perch, carp, catfish, wrasse, sunfish, carp, redfin, bream, sturgeon, and pike. Because of this, it is a very popular fishing spot. The dam has many pontoons with buildings, including a fish farm. Some of the pontoon houses are rented out and visited by vacationers and tourists during the summer. You can ride a water bike, boat or jet around them. There are good conditions for tourism along the banks of the dam. Rest stations and hotels have been established. The Krichim-Devin road passes by the dam. A good view of the area is revealed from Mount Saint Ilia.

Arbanasi is a village in the Central part of Bulgaria. It is located 5 km away from Veliko Tarnovo in the Arbanashko plateau. The population of the village in 2022 was 362 people. At the end of the 15th century, after the military campaign of Sultan Bayezid in Albania in 1492, many prisoners were taken. Around 1556, Rüstem Pasha bought the village and turned it into his own waqf. Arbanasi reached its economic heyday in the second half of the 17th century and until the end of the 18th century. They produced silk, which they exported to Constantinople and Italy. Viticulture is also characteristic of this region. The main livelihood of the population was the zhelepchiy and suvatchiy. The crafts related to them, as well as coppersmithing and goldsmithing, were also developed. They sold meat, tallow, leather, etc., and on the way back they brought silk, velvet, spices, herbs, etc., which they sold not only in their shops in Arbanasi but also in Tarnovo, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Popovo, etc. At the end of the 18th century, as a result of the Kardjalian attacks in 1792, 1798, and 1810, the village was looted and burned, and the remaining people died of plague and cholera. The development of craftsmanship after the Crimean War almost stopped here. You can see the preserved 144 houses with rich interior decoration, 5 churches, and 2 monasteries. In Arbanasi, Sophronii Vrachanski wrote the famous "Life and suffering of the sinful Sophronius". One weekend will be enough for everything in Arbanasi - both for active tourism and for relaxation. Konstantsaliev's house is large with interesting architecture and many rooms, there is even a bathroom and toilet on the 2nd floor, which was a great rarity at the time. It was originally built at the end of the 17th century and was later rebuilt several times. The cave is located n in the southeastern outskirts of Arbanasi. It is very similar to the famous Utrobata cave in the Eastern Rhodopes. It is most interesting there at sunset on the day of the summer solstice, when the sun's rays penetrate the deepest into the cave. The cave is quite narrow.

Varna is the largest city in Northeastern Bulgaria, located on the shores of the Black Sea and Lake Varna. Its population is 335,177 people. The city is called the Sea Capital of Bulgaria. In ancient , the city was called Odessos. There are many sights in the city and tourism is extremely developed. Varna is one of the most famous resorts in Bulgaria. There are many different sights and places to visit.

The city is home to many ancient and natural attractions. One of them is the Varna Chalcolithic necropolis with the processed around 4400 - 4100 BC. Golden treasure. in the Archaeological Museum.

Tsigov Chark is a Bulgarian mountain resort. It is located on the southwestern shore of the Batak dam, which is the sixth largest dam in Bulgaria.

Tsigov Chark is famous for its clean air. The resort is hidden in the large, big forests of the Rhodopes. In the resort of Tsigov chark, there are several larger hotels, many small family hotels, and private villas. The main bed base is in the villas and hotel complexes type "single-family houses". The resort is a family entertainment complex. There is a developed "market", grocery stores, and numerous small ones.

Krushuna waterfalls

Krushuna waterfalls are natural phenomena. Everyone should see this place! The falls are not that big, but they are incredibly beautiful.

The series of picturesque waterfalls on the Proynovska River is the largest travertine cascade in the country.

The main waterfall is about 20 meters high and cascades down soft limestone rocks before splitting into several smaller cascades. 

The Krushun waterfalls are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and interesting places for visits and tourism in Bulgaria. Moreover, they can be reached quite lazily.

Lyubimets is a city in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the Haskovo district and is close to the cities of Harmanli and Svilengrad. The city is the administrative center of Lyubimets municipality. Lubimets has extremely good transport and geographical position. The international road E-80, which connects Western and Central Europe through Sofia, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Lyubimets, and Svilengrad with Istanbul, the Middle East, Asia, and North Africa, passes through the territory of the municipality and through the city of Lyubimets itself. The "Maritsa" highway also passes near Lyubimets, which has the same direction as E-80. In addition to the road corridor, the railway line from Western and Central Europe passes through Sofia, Plovdiv, Dimitrovgrad, and Lyubimets to Svilengrad, Istanbul, and the Middle East. The electrification of the Plovdiv - Svilengrad section improved transport on the territory of the Lyubimets municipality.

The "Paradise View" tourist route is located next to the Kardzhali Dam, near the "Utrobata" cave. It is extremely attractive, with a view of the meanders of the Kardjali Dam and the Arda River, the steep peaks in the area and the wild nature of the Eastern Rhodopes. The relatively new route, set out by a team from the nearby "Borovitsa" hotel, begins at a bend, shortly after the village of Padartsi. To the wooden benches, from which the "Paradise view" can be found, there is a 30-minute steep climb along the visible path and another almost as easy descent to the final destination.

It takes about 1 hour of normal walking to get there. On the way, you will also be able to see several rock-cults the complex located next to the path.

It is in second place after Iceland in flow rate - every second about 5,000 liters of water gushes from the bowels of our homeland. Our country is a real natural paradise, because here people, animals, and plants can feel the healing power of all types of mineral water known in the world.

Nowadays Hisar, Banya, Burgas, and Sliven have been SPA centers with crucial significance. In ancient Greece, they have been the father of medicine.

Madara is the name of the historical-archaeological reserve, which covers an area of several hundred acres, which since 2006 must also be a protected area. It is located in North-Eastern Bulgaria. The center of the reserve is around the Big Cave - a rock shelter with a height of about 30 meters, and the nearby Small Cave. Both natural formations gave shelter to the most ancient population of the Balkans. The main livelihood of the rock-dwelling population was the collection of roots, fruits and hunting of animals. Because of their impressiveness and unusualness, as well as because of the abundant water flowing from the rocks, they have become the largest cult complex in the Balkans.

Madara was the main holy place of the First Bulgarian Empire before the conversion of Bulgaria to Christianity in the 9th century. The Madara horseman was carved into a 23-meter cliff near the village of Madara in northeastern Bulgaria. The relief depicts a horseman in a natural pose with a sword in hand. At the horse's feet is a lion, and behind the rider is his hunting dog. The inscriptions next to the sculpture tell of events that occurred between 705 and 801 .

Only 5 km away. from the town of Peshtera, high among the slopes of the mystical Rhodopes, hides the small but charming Snezhanka cave. Two kilometers after leaving the city, in the direction of the town of Batak, we had to turn left (follow the sign). From here, for another 3 km., a narrow and rather rutted road winds, and at the end of it is the parking lot of the site.

Snezhanka cave was opened on January 3, 1961. From the cave explorers Boris Evtimov, Georgi Zlatarev and Gencho Kotsev. They explore many caves in the area, but this one, while not the largest, is one of the most beautiful. According to experts, the Snezhanka cave is about 3.5 million years old and was formed under the influence of the waters of the Novomakhlenska river.

Snezhanka consists of six halls, but visitors are allowed in only four of them. The last two are not illuminated and are closed to visitors. The length of the cave is only 145 m., but it is extremely rich in various sized stalagmites, stalactites, stalactons, sinter lakes and draperies. The temperature here is constant all year round and does not exceed 8.5 degrees, and the humidity reaches 98%. That's why it's good to always have outerwear on hand.
