... but why stop with a flat display when you can do more?

Dollar Stores have pumpkins that can be used for this project!

Try to find hollow pumpkins. They usually have a line where two halves were joined together. You can easily cut along that line to make two pumpkins!

... but why not cut your OWN pumpkin shapes from foamcore?

Use an X-acto knife to cut through the top layer of foamcore (paper).

Use a T-pin (or thick needle) to poke holes along the line through the foam and through the bottom layer of paper.

... then cut (connect the dots) from the BACK of the foamcore!

(Be sure to use a scrap of foam or cardboard behind your project when you are cutting!)

a perfect Pumpkin!

A "sight words pumpkin" is a good project for older classes to construct for a younger students! Have older students make this type of project and then take it to show to younger students. (Hint: invite the local newspaper or tv news to cover the visit !)

NOTE: There are two touchpoints on "EYES" so the LEDs on each eye lights up!

Make a Sight Words list and add a MakerBit! Touch a word on the list... the LED on the pumpkin lights up.

... Velcro was used to attach a foamcore list of words (and Touchpoints) to the front of the box.

Add your MakerBit and LEDs to identify the Pumpkin parts.

A Drywall Screw (just the plastic part) was used to attach the pumpkin to the cardboard box base.

Think about using MakerBit to make information boards for: identifying parts of the heart... or parts of a frog... or a map of places to visit... or identifying parts of a volcano!
