note: reinforce the bendy edge with tape before decorating the box.
The Booo Book
began as a
Pencil Box from
the craft store.
There are lots of ways to make a book project. Cardboard boxes, cut-up cardboard, papier-mache paper books from craft stores...
You just need to be sure there is enough room for all the electronics!
You will need to build a tiny "shelf" support so the top "page" of the book stays up over the electronic parts.
There should be a support on each side (like the Booo Book)...
...or corner supports (like in Emily's Sight Words Book).
reinforced edge (tape)
foam core "page" that rests on "shelf" and covers the electronics
The cover was made using half of a foam pumpkin, fake cobwebs.
The bumpy texture is made from "Modeling Paste"-- found in the paint department of craft stores.
This technique was also used in the Steampunk Sample Book.
There are many different techniques to use on these books.
You can learn about some of them in our "HyperDuino Ideas" book!
