Chapter 1
Baseball Basics
Baseball is a game played on a diamond shaped field. There are 4 bases the first one is 1st base. The second one is 2nd base and the third is 3rd base. Then the last base is Home Plate. There are 9 positions plus batting in Baseball. For Major league Baseball they have to play 9 innings of Baseball. Modified Baseball you have to play 7 innings of Baseball for Little League you only have to play 6 innings. As a coach you would need substitutions for the positions of the game in case anyone gets hurt. In order to win the game you need to get more runs then the other team. There are 2 ways to score in a Baseball game one way is to hit a home run. The there is an RBI (Runs Batted In).
There are 4 pieces of Baseball gear. They are cleats, a glove, a bat, and a batting helmet. The pair of cleats are very important because if you don't have them then you don't have good traction when you are trying to run the bases and get the ball. Also if you don't have your cleats maybe your coach won't let you play. The range for cleats would be $30.00-$150.00 depending on the league of play. The next piece of equipment is a glove this is what helps you secures the ball. It is usually made from leather and sometimes other material. The prices range from $25.00-$400.00 depending on the type of material of the glove. The helmet is what protects your head. It really helps because say you get a ball to the head you could get a concussion but the helmet prevents that. The usual price range for helmets depending on the brand is $50.00-$120.00. The last piece of equipment is the bat. In Little League you have to use a metal bat but in the Major League you need to use a wooden bat. The price range for bats depending on the brand and material is $40.00-$175.00.

Baseball Teams
There are 30 baseball teams in the Major League. All of those teams have to play 162 games in a season. Also they play in the playoffs if they are good enough. There is a Double A and a Triple A. When you get drafted by a baseball team you don't immediately go to the Major's. You need to start in the Double A and then you will get called up to Triple when the coach thinks your good enough. Then if he thinks that you have talent then he will call you up to the Major's. All 30 of the baseball teams are Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, New York Yankees Tampa Bay Rays, LA Dodgers, LA Angels, Washington Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, KC Royals, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins, and the San Diego Padres.
There are 9 baseball positions plus batting in the game of baseball. The first positions are the outfield positions there are three positions in the outfield which are Right Field, Center Field, and Left Field. There are 5 Infield positions they are 3rd base, Shortstop, 2nd base, 1st base, Pitcher, and Catcher. Also there is Batting when you are up to bat you need to be ready for the ball so you can hit it. All of the Outfield and Infield positions are very important. For example if you are in the Outfield you want to try to catch the ball and get it back to the Infield. Then if you are in the Infield you are trying to get the ball to any base that can get an out.
