Sport stacking originated in the 1980's in Southern Carolina, and just started with a simple game of pixie cups at a Boys and Girls Club. Since then Sport Stacking has revolutionized not only it's popularity but the way it is played. The game has improved from simple stacks to specifically made cup formations. The cup have also had their own evolution from simple ordinary cups to specially designed high-tech Sport Stacking cups, approved by the Worlds Sport Stacking Association. With these improvements, records have been broken. Right now William Orell holds the world title for the fastest Cup Stacker, with a time of 5 seconds.

Chapter Two
The game begins with nine or twelve cups, which the players must stack as fast as they can in specific sequences. The players or stackers take specifically designed cups and stack pyramids up and down with the designated cups. The sequences are stacks of three, six, or ten cups. The object of the game is for the players that are being timed, are trying to out stack the opponents or opposing teams. If the Player is an individual stacker he is trying to out stack his fellow opponents or beat his own time.

Chapter Three
Sport stacking can be played in many ways, whether its the amount of players on a team, or the way you want to play it. Cup Stacking teams can be teams of four it it can just be individually played. With a team of four the most common way to play is a relay. A relay has one player complete a pyramid sequence and quickly hurry back to the starting line where another team member will repeat until everyone has completed this task. The object of this relay is to try and beat the other opposing team before they finish. If a mistake is made or a cup is dropped or not correctly stacked the player must fix it before they return to the team. Individual players, play individual games which are played mostly by time and who can complete a pyramid up and down the fastest.

Chapter four
The rules of Sport Stacking can differentiate between what you can wear and can and cannot do. Cup stacking uniforms aren't very specific with just a simple team name or matching shirts, but there are restrictions. You cannot wear something that is going to distract the judges or opposing stacker, such as sunglasses a bandanna or even as simple as a watch. The most important rule of Cup Stacking is that you must always go back to the beginning, and by doing so you have to down stack. Another simple but important rule is to only handle one stack at a time. Overall there are not many rules, but Cup Stacking can be a hard sport to learn but overtime with practice rules will become easier to follow and less worried about.
