What to expect
Habitat and heating
Leopard geckos are some of the most easy and cutest animals. Leopard geckos are exceptionally easy to take care of. They only need a tank, heating and to be fed. Leopard geckos are always curious so keep them busy with new obstacles every so often. They come in a couple different colours all vibrant and beautiful. They can be tamed to walk around outside of there cage and even sleep on your lap. Sometimes they can be a little bit feisty but they are some of the most docile animals on Earth.
Habitat and heating
Leopard geckos need a specific but simple habitat. Your leoopard gecko will need a horizontal cage with 10-20 gallons of space. On the bottom of the tank there should be a leopard gecko heat mat that can be found at almost any pet store and a habitat thermometer. The tank should stay at 87/90F degrees
at most and 74/80F degrees at the coolest. the gecko should have a normal gecko light that does not project heat and is not colored crazily. The gecko should have at least two places to hide from people and the light. Keep the light on at day and off at night YOU DO NOT NEED A NIGHT LIGHT.
Feeding
Supplements!
Baby leopard geckos (0-6 months old) should eat every day about 2 small mealworms per inch in body length. Geckos 6-12 months old should eat every other day with the same system but with medium mealworms or small crickets with the same system. Gecko adults (12 months or older) should eat every three days with the same system but with medium to large mealworms and medium to large crickets based on size. This feeding system will most likely need to be revised by you based on your geckos health, size and how much they eat.
Supplements are possibly the most important thing for geckos. Without supplements geckos could easily get sick with various diseases like stick tail caused bu calcium deficiency. The supplements your gecko needs are a calcium supplement and a multivitamin supplement. Supplements are based on a four feeding schedule. Ont the first, second and third feedings give your gecko food powdered or sprayed with calcium. On the fourth day give him food with multivitamin spray or powder you should repeat this for the geckos entire lifespan. Also you should leave a small bowl of calcium powder in the tank for the gecko.
