"CRASH" the waves crashed against the side of the Hundred Voyage submarine. The strong waves threatened to crash through the windows and flood the whole sub. But Luliput wasn't scared. How could she be? She had lived on the sub her whole life. Her dad was the famous ocean explorer Dun Davies. But when you live on a submarine for your whole life it's hard to be thankful that you live on one.
"Why can't I live on land where people are?" Luliput asked her pet jellyfish, Puddle. When he seemed to not have an answer she went on. "Is he trying to ruin my life. All this does is make me anti social and crabby." She told this to Puddle all the time. He didn't say anything about her "Taking sub life for granted" as her father would say.
"Awwuga awwuga" the lights above her head suddenly blazed red.
Puddles shrunk back into his home as the small crew rushed to the control center. But Luliput didn't follow. A long time ago she decided that her point would be more effective if she didn't participate in helping this ocean she was trapped in.
"Come on Jellygirl!" Jeffery, her younger brother cackled as he rushed past. why did Jeffery have to be so interested in this stuff. that just gave her dad more of a reason to stay out in the middle of the ocean."Jellygirl. Get over here. Now!" Jeffery giggled into the sound system.
"Please do come here, this is important" Dun's voice came over. Luliput rushed to the control center. Maybe were going home she thought, wherever that was. She just knew that the Hundred Voyage was not home.
"I have decided something important" Dun Davies announced. Everyone seemed to lean in accept Luliput. "We are going to have a marine reserve on the reef we discovered yesterday.
"OH OH! The one with the new type of fish I discovered that is now named after me?" Jeffery said loud enough for Luliput to hear from all the way across the table.
"No fair!" Luliput protested. "Shouldn't it have a more scientific name?" Luliput begged.
"Jeffery did not get a fish named after him." Dun chuckled. Then he became serious. "You would know if you came to explore with us." Dun said in a little more pleading voice. Luliput looked away from him. When would he understand that she would never be like Jeffery and him.
