The Blue Sky

I stared out of the window at the greyish, smoggy sky of Beijing.
I would've been in Spain right now if not for this terrible smog. I've been looking forward to our trip to Barcelona for a long time, but we couldn't go there because all the flights were canceled.
It's not the first time that something like this happens. My friends and I planned to have a party at the park for my 11th birthday a week ago, but we couldn't go out because of the horrible air pollution outside.
I wish there's no air pollution, and everyone can enjoy the blue, blue sky.

Today I read the newspaper as usual. I saw something interesting: a report about air pollution. It says that air pollution kills 7 million people a year globally. It also says that most of the air pollution is caused by humans, but there are also natural causes. It's a global problem. You can not see it, you can not control it, but it's going to kill you. Scientists will need to analyze the air to see where air pollution comes from, figure out ways to clean the air and deliver the clean air to where it is needed.
I've always wanted to become a scientist since I was three. But for quite a while, I didn't figure out what exactly to do. Now I know what I want to do: I want to help reduce air pollution.

I had a wonderful dream last night. A dream of a better future.
In the dream, I was already 30 years old, and I was a successful scientist. I was working in a really cool lab with a bunch of colleagues from all around the world, trying to reduce air pollution by replacing fuel with solar energy and filtering the tiny particles in the air. We were quite successful, and we would continue working hard.
Then, I woke up. Naturally, I was a bit disappointed, realizing that it was just a dream. Then I thought that in the dream, I was already thirty years old, which means that I still have twenty years to get there in real life. I have to work hard in the coming twenty years for a better future for everyone with a beautiful blue sky.

Today I went on a tour for an extraordinary middle school. A middle school that really emphasizes the importance of science & technology, and welcomes kids who wants to have a science career.
The campus was marvelous. I saw all kinds of useful school equipment, including air filters for smoggy days; Ipads with new technology apps for students to use; tin foil, pipettes, and other materials in the science lab. Schools like this are definitely ideal for kids like me, who want to make a better future for everyone.
I think that studying in this school is the first step towards my goal of making my dream come true. I know it's not going to be easy, but I'm ready for it.
