First let's start with Decent Work. Decent work means that everyone gets work that provides fair income, security in their workplace, social security for families, and social integration. "Over the past 25 years the number of workers living in extreme poverty has declined dramatically, despite the lasting impact of the 2008 economic crisis and global recession." says the UNDP.

What is economic growth?

Now let's explain what economic growth means. The meaning of economic growth means an increase of goods and services made for everyone in the population over time. So said the simple way, it means how they're going to make enough goods so that everyone to have them.

Why are Scientists trying to improve Decent work and Economic Growth?

It's important because decent work and economic growth means that our living standards would rise and more people would have jobs. Jobs give you money, and if you have money you can provide goods for your family. If families didn't have goods they wouldn't have food, shoes, or blankets! Goods are basically any possession you can have.

My Final Say...

In conclusion decent work and economic growth is important and scientists are still trying to achieve this goal. This goal - goal 8 - has improved a lot since 2017. From this goal we should realise how much we have. Some people don't have jobs, some don't have goods, and some don't have money. Look at what you have around you right now. Look at all the great things you have! Maybe you're in a very good school, or a nice home, maybe you have lots of toys. Now imagine what it would be like without any of these things. You wouldn't go to school, you wouldn't have a house, you wouldn't have all those fun toys, or any of the things that are around you! Without a job, you wouldn't have money. Without money, you can't buy food, water, or live in a house. I hope now you see why decent work and economic growth are connected, and important.
