Instructions:

Choose a new page in the book to write a postcard to a kid in the FUTURE.

BEFORE you write, please choose a "thing" that best represents our experience of this time at home. Write your postcard to tell someone in the future about one thing that has made this period of time extraordinary, for example, people wearing masks, hand sanitizer being sold out, school from home, quarantine memes, family time, physical distancing etc.. BUT just pick ONE topic to write about. Try not to pick the same thing as someone else! Decorate your page as you like; see my first entry about toilet paper as an example.

Have Fun with it!

Dear Friend from the Future,

Toilet paper is a HOT commodity. Grocery store shelves are empty of this coveted luxury bathroom staple item. People are buying massive quantities all at once and stocking up. This time will be remembered not just for the virus, but for the toilet paper shortage we caused by over-purchasing and panicking, probably unnecessarily.

I hope you never get caught in this scenario -

Sincerely,
Stuck at Home

Hello,

I'm writing to you from the the time of the Covid 19 pandemic. It's kind of messed up. We have to stay at home and for you that must sound amazing. And for a time, it was, but after some time you start to miss your friends and teachers and yes, even school. Another thing is you kind of have to teach yourself. So there's no teachers to answer questions and so on - so it's kind of annoying. But you do have Google meets and chats once in a while. I hope it is better when you're reading this! Goodbye!

Sincerely,
Harrison
Hello future friends,

I'm a Grade 6 student from the past (the year 2020) and I will be informing you on what it was like in the old days, when Covid-19 took over.
There were lots of things that it will be remembered for. I will be telling you about Zoom and Google Meet calls.
Zoom and Google Meet are the names of websites where one can go on a video call with multiple people. Every week, our teachers would send us links for specific days and times. For example, Wednesday at 1:00 pm. At the specified time, everyone would click the link and join the call.
It was a fun way to see your teachers and class mates! We even played some games once! If you missed a call, it wasn't all that bad, you would just make sure to be on the next one.
I even did virtual guitar lessons! I started learning guitar during isolation and did Zoom calls with an instructor. Learning some songs and chords was a fun way to pass the time!
Thank you for reading my postcard!

Hey people from the future!

You probably have heard of the coronavirus, because, well it’s pretty big during the time I’m writing this. I’m going to describe what it was like living during social distancing. What that means is you’re not allowed to be near people. Or at least, you have to be 2 meters apart. Basically, going outside means not coming in contact with a person, and if you do, someone you know or love could get sick or maybe even die. Whenever you come back inside, you have to wash your hands vigorously. If you live with the elderly or the immunocompromised, then you have to be even more careful. What I’m getting at,is that you should be grateful that you can go outside, hang out with friends and even go to the park, knowing that you won’t get fined $750.

Anyways, stay safe, Jaisal
