One Spring day in Courtown Woods, Cabbage, after waking from a nap crept out of his burrow bringing a little juicy carrot with him. He climbed up the hill behind the burrow to nibble his carrot in peace.
Suddenly he heard a rustling noise in the bushes. Startled, he turned around to find a rather tired and scrawny looking rabbit coming towards him.
‘Hello, I’m Bacon, said the scrawny thing. ‘I see you have a very tasty looking carrot in your paw. Would you mind sharing it with me? I haven’t eaten in three whole days.’ After giving it some though Cabbage reluctantly agreed to share.

I am not one bit happy about having to share my carrots
Unknown to Cabbage Hawk the sneak was flying over head and had heard every word. As fast as the wind he flew back into the woods and told all the other animals that Cabbage was sharing his food with everyone.
The animals scampered up the hill as fast as their legs would carry them to get in on the big give away. Cabbage was not happy that Hawk had offered his food to all the other animals. In a very cross voice he announced that this was a one time event and that he would not be sharing again. Without a moments thought all the animals tucked into the pile of carrots. Their faces lit up and they were so happy.

Peace at last!
That evening when all order had been restored, Cabbage took what few carrots he had left, headed to his favourite peaceful spot and indulged in a midnight fest like no other. As he nibbled on a particularly succulent carrot under the shimmering moon he thought about the day’s events. He smiled a little smile feeling very proud of himself.
