Egypt's History
The first people settled on the banks of the River Nile around 8,000 years ago. They were hunters and fisherman who grew crops, raised animals, built villages and towns as well as boats to navigate the mighty river. There was no money in these days so they traded goods.
By 3,000 B.C the Ancient Egyptian civilization was born.

Initially the kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt were separate only coming together under a powerful king in 3,100 B.C. The Kings, called Pharaohs, built massive temples, pyramids and other monuments, many of which can still be see today.
Under the Pharaoh they started to conquer new lands. During this time the country was ruled by dynasties. There were 30 dynasties in total. However, by 1,000 B.C Egypt was divided into smaller parts. They were attacked and their territories taken over.
