POEMThe poem I am about to read to you is my self portrait poem. It describes how I feel right now and in this crazy time period. It is based on a poem called “A song bird dreams of singing” by Kate Hosford. I call it your dreams, my dreams, our dreams.
Your Dreams,
My Dreams, Our Dreams
You won't see me in the early hours,
I will be sleeping in dreaming of flowers
And peaceful days full of sun
When Corona will be gone
Other people may dream of walks in the park
And seeing friends, and staying out late till dark
I dream of happy things, that make me laugh
Sad things and mad too
I try to make my dreams worth following,
Ones that will inspire.
When early hours pass I wake up
And say what I desire.
Other people may dream of walks in the park
And seeing friends and staying out late till dark
I dream of happy things, that make me laugh
Sad things and mad too
In closing If I had to give any advice to anyone writing poetry, it would be to write from your heart, to speak the truth about how you feel/how you are feeling. Poetry has always been something I have loved since second or third grade and that love for it has only gotten more powerful over the years. When I was little I did not understand poetry as much but now I do and I am happy that it is something we learn throughout our lives. During this crazy pandemic, poetry has helped me express how I feel and what I am going through. It is powerful that way. It also has helped me because when I read it I feel more calm and happy. And lastly I want to say that even if you don't love poetry or did not like it before, give it a chance and if you have already thank you for that.
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS
