I cried out in pain from the feeling of the ground scraping my cheek. ‘Don’t ever come back …... disrespectful woman!’ was all I heard in the blur of sounds pounding in my head. The door behind me slammed shut and woke me up to realize what happened. I had been thrown out.

After about a week of scrounging through the streets to survive, Natsuko had finally had enough. She couldn’t bear it anymore. As much she dreaded it, she needed to beg for forgiveness from her husband.

She thought long and hard, going through every possible situation and outcome that could occur, and so finally, she decided to create a plan. So for the next few days, Natsuko worked to create the correct path she would take in order to be with her husband again at last.

After pacing back and forth by the lake, Suzuki decided not to create a plan. She was going to go on what her heart tells her to do, in fear of being too uptight.

During her daily walk to see a small pond, her eyes widened by the shock of seeing herself. It was as if she wasn't herself, she could barely recognize herself. "Wow... I look horrible." she said, as if talking to the ducks nearby.
Her once black and silky hair was now a mess, splotches of dirt and mud stained her yakuta, making it unrecognizable. Her cheeks hollowed due to not having eaten a proper meal in days.
Natsuko knew that her husband would not accept her in this state of poverty.
