Hello there, Friends!!
I am so happy that you are here to read this book about taking a brain break. Our amazing brains are working hard every day and sometimes we just need to stop and give them a rest.
Giving our brain a nice break helps us to think calmly, be problem solvers and better friends.
When we learn how to take a brain break it can help us in all sorts of ways. If you feel that your school work is getting too hard, take a brain break and then try again. Your family or friends are starting to bug you? Take a brain break and think of ways to make things better.
Remember, adults need brain breaks, too!!
We all have an amazing brain inside our head. I think our brains are like our very own computer. They help us to think, solve problems, try our very best and get along with other people. When our brains are calm they work better. And the best part?? You control your brain!!
That's right, you are in control of your brain. Let's learn how to keep our brains calm so they work better...
Let's start by getting ourselves comfortable in a sitting position. You can sit in a chair or sit criss cross on the floor. Your back should be straight but relaxed. Your hands can be resting softly in your lap. Some children like to make a circle with their thumbs and pointer fingers. It is your choice.
I am going to ask you to sit still and just listen for my voice, the sound of my chime and the sound of your breathing. If your attention goes to a different sound, that is ok. Bring your attention back to my voice, the chime and your breathing. We will give our brains a break by breathing in and out slowly.
