By Maria BradyWhat is Inquiry Based Learning?
Students create their own questions on a topic and are given time to investigate the answers, (Wilson and Murdoch, 2003)
Inquiry based learning promotes the exploration of ideas and generalisations instead of being given closed answers, (Wilson and Murdoch, 2003)
Inquiry based learning is guided by constructivism. It follows a procedure of a proposed experience allowing for the formation of conceptual knowledge of the world, demonstration of this knowledge and the application of this knowledge in other contexts, (Wilson and Murdoch, 2003)

Digital Camera's
Why have digital camera's reemerged into society? Do people miss the simplicity of technology?
I think there is sentimentality connected to digital cameras. They are encapsulated with memories.

WONDERMENTS
Seaweed Investigation
Week one
My Inquiry
In our first IBL lecture, we observed a collection of seaweed. It made me wonder about the purpose of seaweed on our planet. I questioned the different colors and shapes that seaweed embodies. I was prompted to discover why the formation of seaweed changes depending on its location.
We were given the opportunity to draw a sketch of our seaweed which allowed me to observe the texture and various grooves that were apparent on the seaweed's skin.
In order to investigate my inquiries I would take a trip to the beach and observe the various colors' of seaweed. I would ask a more knowledgeable person, perhaps a fisherman about the different types and colors of seaweed. As well as this, I would conduct research through the internet and books in order to achieve an answer to my inquiries.

Seaweed Sketch
When I was drawing the piece of seaweed it made me more aware of the various textures present on it's surface. The smell became more apparent to me which reminded me of spending time at the beach
Me as a learner
Week two
I would use colourful pens to represent me as a learner. I picked this artefact as it emphasises my need for colourful, visual resources to assist my learning.
When I was studying for my Leaving Certificate Biology exam I would create notes using colourful pens and markers to draw diagrams and pictures to aid my learning. This made it much easier for me to visualise my notes in my mind. It also made it a more enjoyable process as I was able to integarte my love for drawing into my notes.
