HOW WAS IT MADE?

1. In 1876 the arm holding the torch was completed and exhibited at the Philadelphia Exposition.

2. The head and shoulders were completed in 1878 and exhibited at the World's Fair in Paris.

3. And between 1881 and 1884 the assembly of the entire Statue of Liberty was carried out in Paris.

DAMAGES SUFFERED BY THE STATUE OF LIBERTY

In 1916 it was damaged after the Black Tom explosion. In 1956, Hungarian nationalists kidnapped the Statue of Liberty and hung a flag over it. In 1980, Croatian terrorists detonated a bomb inside the statue.

The 28th October 1886, the Statue of Liberty was built by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and Gustave Eiffel. France gave the statue to the United States on the 100th anniversary of its independence, in 1876.
