I was sitting down on the picnic bench, roasting in the Texas sun, and enjoying my cheesy nachos. I love Texas, and I really love the Texas coast. Being next to the green sea and looking up at the bright blue sky. The people are always so friendly. Being at the beach makes me happy, and going to the annual Texas Crab Festival is always the most fun. So many people, games, live music, food stands, and laughter all in one big festival. Since my grandparents are a big part of setting it all up and planning the festival, I am usually one to help out. I love to help with the Texas Crab Festival. It is one of the biggest events this town plans every year. To kick off the festival, there is a 1 mile run for kids and a 5 mile run for adults. Most parents run with their kids to warm up. Then, the adults run the 5 mile run while my brothers and I, along with my two grandmas, ride on the back of the golf cart to deliver water to the runners. When the race is complete, we head over to the festival to enjoy all of the games, food, contests, and shop at the many different arts and crafts tents. Of course the Texas Crab Festival is known for the many crab dishes served from different restaurants. They travel from near and far to participate and compete for the best meal. While strolling the festival grounds with your tasty bites, the live music fills the air and the excitement of the carnival rides is everywhere. From the ferris wheel to zip lines, kids and adults have fun. Contests continue all weekend and raffles for small and big items, like a brand new golf cart to cruise the beautiful, sandy beach. The festival lasts for 3 full days over Mother’s Day weekend. It’s always a great event to spend with family and friends, especially my Mom, Aunts, and Grandmas.
