It was the last day before Christmas break, and Selena was excited to be able to go home and see no one for two weeks. She had always been the girl in the back of the class who talked to no one. She could have been beautiful, if not for her long brown hair always covering her shy face. Her bright blue eyes were always on the floor, running away from the hundred of teenagers walking in the halls of the big high school. She had spent the last hour staring at the clock, waiting for the bell to ring and to finally be free. When it was finally the end of the class, she practically ran to her locker and packed her things in less than two minutes. She was ready to get out of this horrible place when she saw a strange hooded figure looking at her. She couldn’t see its face, but its body shape could infer that it was probably a girl around her age. She didn’t make a big deal out of it and started to walk toward the route that led to her house. When she was on her way home, she looked at the little bakery bordering the route and closed her eyes to smell the divine smell coming out of it. When she opened them again, the strange hooded girl was in front of her, maybe two meters away. Cold sweat went down Selena’s back, but she shoved away every little voice in her head that told her to run away and decided to go straight to the person to see what all of this was about. She didn’t even get to take two steps when the hooded girl was already running deep into the forest that was surrounding the route. She didn’t know what went through her head, but she started to run after her. Breathless after running for ten minutes straight, she lost track of the strange hooded girl. She was about to walk back to the route when she saw through the trees the girl entering a big abandoned house. She ran the few meters separating her from the house and opened the creaking door. She looked up the stairs that led to a second floor and went still. The hooded girl was up the stairs, facing her. Her hood was down. It’s at this moment that Selena understood that she should have listened to the voice in her head. The girl looked exactly like her, but with a slight difference. She looked dead.
