           I woke up to the sound of the door downstairs close. I looked at the clock by my bed; it said, “2:18 AM”. I started to get worried. “Who could have possibly been downstairs at this time?” I thought to myself. I wanted to go to my parents’ room to ask them about it, but I was too scared to go out of my room. “What if that “thing” that’s making those noises downstairs is now sitting by the door,” I thought to myself again. Just as I started dozing, I got interrupted. I heard footsteps approaching my door. Suddenly, I got out of bed, ran to my door, and locked it, and hid under my bed.
          Then, I heard the door handle turn, but the door was locked. Then I heard my parents scream in terror. Suddenly, the screams were silenced. Then, I heard banging on my door. The door suddenly opened, I saw a tall figure standing in the doorway. My room was on the second floor, so I ran to the window and jumped out. I was lucky; I landed in a thick bush and didn’t get hurt. 
          I turned around, and I saw the figure standing by the window. The house was on fire! I decided to run across the field to our neighbor, Mr. Jones. I ran faster than I ever did before. I heard footsteps following me. Just as I got to the farm, I saw Mr. Jones standing outside. “What are you doin’ kid?” he asked, “Why you be screamin’ so late at night, huh?” “My parents are dead!” I said in terror, “Someone wants me dead too!” Then I saw blood coming out of Mr. Jones’s mouth. There was a machete in his stomach. He was dead. I saw the figure again; it was a tall man wearing a mask. I got so scared that I lost consciousness...
