I remember that day as if it happened yesterday. It all started on October 31st, 1999. I was walking down the street with Marcus and Oliver. The street was full of happy children. It was a normal Halloween like every other year. The Sun went to bed, and the Moon got ready for its long night ahead. The sky was dark but clear. We were on our way home, but we didn't notice Marcus was gone because of all the fascinating costumes we saw. We shouted his name over and over, and searched him everywhere for an hour. He was gone and had magically disappeared without a trace! We didn’t know what to do, therefore, we waited and waited and waited. We waited so long that I fell asleep for a brief moment. When I woke up, Oliver had disappeared too. I swore he was next to me. Little by little, I got really scared, so I started to run because I had a feeling someone was pursuing me. Suddenly, the sky was full of dark clouds. Bang! A tree was struck by lightning and exploded into a million pieces. I looked around me, and the street was deserted and completely silent. Everyone vanished. I was the only one on the street. The lampposts started blinking and fog came out of nowhere. I looked behind my back briefly and I saw a shadow with the shape of a monster. When I finally turned back, boom! A monster was standing in front of me. He had enormous teeth, but he didn’t have feet, nor eyes. His face was completely white and long. He was 8 feet tall and he was carrying a gigantic pickaxe. I couldn’t believe it, so I rubbed my eyes and he was gone. Well that’s what I thought. Suddenly, I heard Marcus’s voice so I turned around but Marcus wasn’t there. Instead, it was the monster! He took Marcus’s voice. Ahhh! I screamed so loudly I almost became deaf. My hands started shivering, then my whole body started shaking and sweating. I knew he killed my friends and I knew I was the next one. The monster raised his pickaxe into the air. I took one last breath and I closed my eyes. The next time I opened my eyes, I was in my house, laying on the bed and listening to my mom saying that Marcus and Oliver died last night with their heads cut off. From that day, I have asked myself everyday why I still have my head on my shoulders.
