I look up and I see red. Endless, all knowing red. The flames begin to thicken as my body swings side to side. I see the edge of the horizon it is yelling for me to run. I know I am not thinking clearly as the sky is tinted red. The so-called “Gateway to the west” is a crumpled heap on the ground. I always knew it would end this way. Ever since the day I sneezed red hot embers. Now, look at what I have done. I have destroyed the city of St.Louis. People are screaming as madness has succumbed. They scream profanities at me.
“You MONSTER!” They scream.
I weep harder and the flames embrace me. It has a horrible warmth. I shiver which is odd, since I am in a cocoon of flames. I am hit by a flying object. I collapse in the flames. I wake up and run farther than I should have.
My word has fallen apart. The flames encase me. Weeping hard. I am trapped in my own thoughts, I weep red hot tears. Now, I have destroyed Kansas, and Dakota, D.C, and Illinois. I am a demon child,so the haters were right. I have engulfed the world in flames. The worst part is I can’t die. I am trapped in this fire pit I have created. I look at the burnt skyline, the scorched black lines, the lines the sun created as it burst. The sky is black, but visible from the flames. The burnt, black skylines.
