An old Pinna Nobilis lives in my sea street.
When I was a small fish she told me exciting stories about her adventures with fishermen.
Her brown face was always smiling, but sometimes I would see a tear. The next moment, she would be laughing again.
The years were passing by. I was growing up. I was travelling and learning. I have seen many other pinnas, and all of them were sad. I tried to ask them why, but none told me anything.
One day, I came back to my sea street and visited my friend Pinna Nobilis again. This time, she was not smiling.
-       Hello, Pinna! – I called her.
-       Oh, hello! You have grown up into such a nice, big fish. – she said trying to make a happy face.
-       May I ask you something, Pinna? What’s wrong? -
She started talking:
-       Yes….a bad thing….I am ill. – she sighed.
-       Ill? But how? Nothing is broken, you look strong!
-       No, no, not that kind of problem. – she went on. – Something inside me...-

-       What? I am going to swim in and eat it!
-       No….you cannot. It's a virus. No, no, it is not dangerous for you – she added quickly, seeing that I am scared. – It is dangerous only for my kind…for the pinnas. We are dying one by one. Look around, I am the last one.
I turned around and saw many dead shells.
-       Go, son, go. Live! Laugh! Enjoy your time. - were the last words of the last Pinna Nobilis in the Mediterranean Sea.
