“2 minutes remaining!” Yelled the announcer.

This was the championship game for WAMS Lacrosse. We are playing West Field, one of the best teams in our division. We have come up as the underdog and made it here on sheer hard work and determination. This game means a lot to me and the team.

“WAMS has really shown improvement this year and is staying in this game.”

Clock ticking down, not much time to score. I could hear my coach screaming from the sidelines, directing us to our spot.

“Peter stripes the ball!!”

This was my chance, for all the marbles. I began to sprint down the field going faster than I had ever gone. Blowing by midfielders like they were cones. The wind slapping me in the face and the cheers in my ears, “Go, Go, Go.” Dodge left. Dodge right. Here was the moment a 4 on 3, Me and my 3 other teammates and their 3 defenders. One defender comes at me and I panicked. Threw the ball in fear, bad pass. I felt as if I was slow-mo watching my teammate jump into the air and . . .

“What a catch! They could do this!”

Yes! He caught it, passes the ball towards the net. WE SCORED!!! 30 seconds remaining. It’s possible I tell myself. We lost the face of I had to step my game up and not let them score. I slid to the ball he passes another pass and another. Their man is alone against our goalies. The sweat rolling down my face, my heart pounding harder and harder every beat.

“What a save by the keeper!!”

10 ... 9, He throws the ball all the way down the field. Once again I felt as if I were in slow motion, the ball falling down into a clump of players mixed of both teams. Players on the sidelines and fan holding their breath. Pushing a shoving trying to get under the ball as if comes down. 7 ... 6,
Screaming from the other side of the field for my team, we could do this. The ball reaches the pile and I see MY TEAMMATE CATCH IT, a sigh of relief as he goes one on one with the goalie. 3...2.

“He shoots!!! He. . .”
