During one of the long, dark summer nights, Mike, an ex-criminal who finished serving his 8 year sentence a couple of years ago, came to his new colleague’s house downtown. Even though the house was located next to the busy streets and loud roads, the place had 2 floors and a backyard. Mike entered the house in a good mood and immediately noticed that James, the house owner, seemed very serious and a bit angry. James let Mike inside and coldly offered him some tea and biscuits. After a couple of minutes of silence, Mike asked his colleague:
-“How are you doing today, man?”
-“Good.”
-“I really like your house. It looks really good!”
 -“Good, he stiffly replied”
After this dry conversation, Mike understood that something wasn’t right. He went to the toilet and saw his own picture on the wall. James has put a knife in the middle of Mike’s face in the photo. Mike panicked. He understood that James wanted to kill him, but he couldn't figure put why... At this moment, the ex-murderer remembered that the woman he killed a long time ago had the same family name as his friend James. Cold sweat went down Mike's Arms. What if his old victim was the dead mother of James? Mike understood that he had to run away from his colleague. The ex-criminal opened the bathroom door and rushed to the front door. With a quick movement of the hand, he unlocked it.
James picked-up a gun and made three large steps to reach the outside of his house. He ran after Mike and shot once in his direction. The bullet missed and hit a parked car. Mike made a turn and ended up on the crowded street. James’ legs carried him as fast as they could. He made the same turn and both colleagues ended up sprinting on the same street downtown. James quickly fired two shots in his enemy’s direction. One of the bullets hit a light pole and the other one went in the head of the man walking towards James. While James hurried up to the man that he killed by accident, Mike had time to escape and hide from his pursuer.
James turned around the dead body of the man and sadly realized it was his own father. While trying to avenge his mother’s death, blinded by revenge, the poor man committed another, more horrible mistake.
