Spring afternoons are popular among the children of Clintsland, Colorado. Public pools, playgrounds, and ponds were starting to open at the sign of the warm spring breeze. Alex Tally had been looking forward to this particular spring since he was just five years old. This was the spring that he would be able to walk to the Clintsland Public Pool all by himself. Mrs. Tally has three boys; Cade, Dawson, and Alex. Alex being the youngest. The household rule was that the boys could only travel the seven blocks to the pool once they had turned fifteen. Anytime Alex wanted to go to the pool he would have to rely on his brother's presence to be able to go but not anymore. This was a huge relief for Dawson and Cade because they were no longer willing to take him to the pool and the constant nagging was driving them crazy! Tomorrow, April 12, all of their worries would come to an end because Alex would turn the glorious age of 15. At least that is how they thought the day would go, but, they would soon find out how wrong they were.
BEEP...BEEP...BEEP… Rang through the house around 6:05 on April 12th for Alex to get up in plenty of time to head to the pool. It was when the BEEP...BEEP...BEEP... never stopped that the Tally family knew something was wrong. When Mrs. Tally burst through the door of Alex's room nothing seemed out of place except her blue-eyed, curly-haired, 15-year-old son was nowhere to be found. Once she took a closer look she was welcomed by the fresh spring breeze that would normally fill her soul with joy but instead left her weeping on the floor of her son's bedroom. Police were searching the town for Alex. In the pools, the parks, and the ponds but came up empty. As the day continued the Talleys started to think of all the horrible things that could have happened to him. That's when they heard a loud crash coming from the taped-off bedroom of Alex tally. When his family finally tore through the caution tape they saw Alex soaked in rain, “I went to the left and not right” said Alex through his shivers. His family embraced him with a hug full of laughter. “The pool is to the right genius,” Cade said as he rubbed Alex’s hair. From that day on Alex was always accompanied by his brothers to the pool.
