I've always thought of myself as a daredevil- as someone who would try anything. Not today. Not right now. Today is the last day of school before winter break, I feel like jumping in bed and taking a nap. Or at least hanging out at home.
But I can't do that- school starts in less than 20 minutes anyway. As I take a bite of my french toast, I realize that my mother and father have been eyeing me suspiciously for the past minute or so wispering. I tug on my caramel brown hair, sensing that something is up. My mom gracefully walked up to me, smiled as she started to lean over the counter. We look a lot a like. From our hazel eyes, to our caramel brown hair, and our pale skin.
"So. Me and your father have decided that you shouldn't go to school. Because uhh, the door is broken."
What the what?
Something is off here.
I raised my eyebrows and shrugged as I ran up stairs as my mother called out,
"Don't go outside!"
I wanted to. I needed to. She didn't make sense.
I have to see what's outside! My mom was acting weird. It's no big deal right?
I made my way to my room. It was very neat and was full of plain colors like black, white, and gray. My pillows and sheets are the only things full of color. They are light blue.
At the front of my room, were coat hangers. On one of them was my backpack. I took it and filled it with water, food, and my phone and then I snatched my backpack off the hook and raced down the stairs to the front door. I slowly opened it and saw a jet black blob. Wait! It's not a blob. It's a portal!!! It is not the colors I expected a portal to be. While feeling the portals forse, I jump in without hesitation, all my worries behind me.
This is going to be an interesting winter break!
