By Jocelyn Rhyno in grade 6 Banks
"Drew! Look what I found!"
Drew dropped his sandwich and ran over to River. River found a small, glass bottle with a message inside.
"Haha, very funny. I know you put the message in there, we're not in a fairy tale or anything."
"No I didn't I found it here!"
"Come on let's go home, you don't have to pretend anymore."
"Wow, great way to ruin the fun."
River and Drew walked back up the hill to their house, River was still a bit upset that her trick didn't work but she kept laughing. The two of them ate a big dinner and then drifted off to sleep. The next morning they headed back to the beach for their morning swim. They were in the water when River hit her toe on something very hard on the sand.
"Ouch! What was that?"
River reached down and pulled up a glass bottle with a note inside.
"Oh come on, not this again," Drew groaned.
"I promise I didn't put this here this time."
"Really?"
"Really."
"So what are we going to do with it?
"Open it of course!"
River and Drew headed back to the sand and sat on their towels. They soon met their first challenge, how would they open the bottle? They pulled and pulled on the cork until, bam! Drew went flying one way, holding the cork and River went the other, holding the bottle. River took the note out of the bottle to read it. It said, "Haha, got you!"
River looked over at Drew and she saw a smile reaching from one ear right to the other.
