I guess all 12 year old children have big dreams but we’re different. We want to reach our dream to become famous explorers and this is a story of us, as a group of four.
Let me introduce ourselves.
First we have Summer, one of my best friends since grade 1.
Then there is Ryan, he is the nerd of our group, the smart explorer.
After that is Conner, he is the smallest, but he has the biggest heart ever!
And finally there is me, Hi My name is Heather. I'm the leader of this group, and this is the story of one of my favourite adventures.
I invited the whole crew to our family road trip. I don’t think my parents really minded, Anyway we were going camping in one of the most beautiful forests in Canada.
“ Finally” yelled summer, with an exhausted voice. I think the rest of the crew were happy that the long car ride had finally ended too.
We got out of the car and ran towards the forest to explore.
“ This is so exciting , thanks for bringing us Heather.” Said Conner.
“Your welcome Conner”
Thick silence surrounded as we headed deeper in the forest.
“Guys check this out!” Ryan yelled. We were all standing in front of a giant cave.
“We should go in.” Summer suggested. We all nodded our heads in agreement and took fast and quick steps towards the entrance of the cave. Once we went deeper in the cave it was dark and we could barely see anything. I took a small flashlight out of my backpack and turned it on with a proud grin. After all, what kind of explorer would I be if I wasn’t prepared. The cave was very strange and suspicious for a normal cave in the forest, especially when there was a metal lever attached to the wall. We were all in shock when I noticed there was water dripping down one of the walls. Then it hit me the water was going to crack the wall open and flood the cave. “ We need to get out of here ASAP!’’ I shouted.
By the time everyone realized what was going on it was already too late. The crew looked at me with fear in their eyes.
“ Was this the end? Were we really going to die in a cave at this young age” I thought to myself.
Conner dragged all three of us toward the lever and pulled it.
I suddenly jumped awake. I was covered with sweat and I quickly looked around to see I was in my tent, Summer looking at me with concern and wide eyes.
“ Are you okay Heather?” she said with her most comforting voice.
“ I’m fine, just a bad dream” I answered in response to her question.
“ I think You guys were right maybe it is a little bit too early for adventures”
Summer looked shocked but she looked relieved at the same time.
“Come on, let’s get back to bed.”
