It was a cloudy day, and I was just about to get off the bus with family. It was the morning and the air was moist. As soon as I got off, I heard the sound of water splashing. Excited, I rushed in to see everything. The aquarium was pretty packed, and I was pretty short at the time, so I couldn’t see much. But I could still see well enough to recognize a big tank with penguins swimming around. The penguins were black and white and waddling around, all varying in size. The smaller penguins had soft fluffy fur and were lingering near the glass wall. I noticed a hole in the glass, it was too small for a big animal to go through, but just right for a penguin. The tiny penguins must have noticed it too, because they was waddling to it. I was about to go to it, but everyone else was heading toward the other exhibits, so of course I followed.

Exhibit after exhibit showcased, seals, fish, sea lions, but at this point, I was only interested in the penguins. I passed by a dolphin show and everyone sat down. Dolphins of all shapes and sizes, swam around. They were all doing different tricks, and I was amazed until I saw a tiny flipper under the bleachers across from me. And then I saw another one and another one. I was shocked, it was a bunch of penguins! The penguins must have escaped through that hole! I I wondered to myself, should I alert the staff? Did anyone else notice the penguins? I observed my surroundings, everyone was too amazed by the dolphin show to notice the penguins waddling around the bleachers.
Finally, a staff member had seen the little penguins goofing off around the bleachers. They were wreaking havoc, knocking drinks, climbing over laps, and making a huge mess. It was two staff members against 20 little penguins. People were panicking, which I found funny since they were innocent penguins. Right?? The least they could do was knock over drinks, and spill water everywhere. Well, apparently I was wrong because one of the bigger penguins had stolen a lady’s wallet and she was freaking out. The lady was wearing high heels and the floor was wet so she couldn’t run.

The penguin was waddling around until… SPLASH! It fell into the dolphin tank! If anyone wasn’t paying attention to the penguins waddling around, that definitely got their attention. Everyone sitting in the bleachers were soaked but laughing, and the staff who had done absolutely nothing during the mess decided it was a good time to come back and take a photo of the situation for the aquarium brochure. We all clapped, and then the more staff came in to gather the penguins back to their exhibit. Finally it was time to go home, as I walked back to the bus, I turned around and saw a good amount of penguins in single file, waddling back to their exhibit. One of the smaller penguins tripped and then got back up, quickly waddling back to its companion's. I smiled to myself, forever remembering this trip to the aquarium.
