The boy looked up at the hospital ceiling lying down, but as the doctor came in, he sat up. His mother to the right of him sat up as well.
“Congratulations. It’s not too bad. You'll be better in about two weeks,” the doctor stated in a soothing, but firm voice.
The boy smiled at his mother, while she smiled back. The boy was reminded of his late grandmother, looking at his mother. His grandmother was the umbrella in a storm while the mother was the cold rain. The grandmother reminded the boy that in the midst of every hurricane, there’s an eye.
The mother was smiling for one reason. The boy was smiling at a different one. The boy didn’t know his mother’s reason, nor did the mother know the boy’s.
The man now looked up at the hospital ceiling lying down, but as the doctor came in, he sat up. No one to the right of him sat up. The man reminisced back to the time where his mother went with him. He remembered the surprised look on his own face when the mother drove him. He wasn’t happy then. He had no one to comfort him and a broken mother.
“Congratulations. It’s not too bad. You’ll be better in about three weeks,” the doctor stated in a soothing, but firm voice.
This time the man had no one to smile at but the doctor. The man thanked the doctor, got up, and left.
The husband now looked up at the hospital ceiling lying down, but as the doctor came in, he sat up. His wife sat to the right of him, and sat up as well.
“Congratulations. It’s not too bad. You’ll be fine in a bit of time,” the doctor stated in a soothing, but firm voice.
The husband smiled at his wife, while she smiled back. The clock was finally moving slower on the husband’s watch, and there were no complaints heard.
The grandfather now looked up at the hospital ceiling lying down, but as the doctor came in, he sat up. His daughter and her children sat to the right of him, and sat up as well.
“Can you leave the room, please?” The doctor asked the children. They all nodded, and the grandfather smiled at them.
“How long, doc?”
“A bit of time.”
