She watched the sunset and the wind chimes tingling in the warm crisp air of the summer. She remembered when she and her mom laid in the prickly grass looking at the sunset. Her mother had died a few months ago from Byler disease. Her mother had always said, "Tiff if I die take care of Mindy for me and run away." Tiffany had always thought about running away and today was the day.
Tiff's dad got drunk often and didn't come home for days at a time when he was out. So she had to take care of her younger sister. At 17 years old she didn't go to school and didn't have a job, but she had a friend so she would go to her friend, Kenedy. They would buy a house as roommates and get jobs. Tiffany got out of her daydream trance and packed for herself.
Kenedy's dad was an acholic too so once Tiffany and Mindy arrived at Kenedy's they ran off into the sunset with smiles on their faces, sprinting for their freedom. The future was unclear, but the moment was all they needed.
