It still lurks
“Ouch” I groaned quietly. My head was throbbing as I used most of my strength to pull myself off the hard mucky ground. I glanced around, scanning my surroundings slowly, but then started to move quicker as I grew more confused on where I was.

I started limping forwards, wandering past the sign: It still lurks. My vision was blurry and there was no light on my side to guide me through the woods. I continued wobbling, then I noticed a red birch wood cabin with an extremely dim lantern slowly swinging in the currents of the breeze. I stumbled inside the chilly cabin, collapsed on the soaked bed and drifted off to sleep.

My eyes slowly opened as they gazed at the sunrise on the horizon. My body flinched… a penetrating and ear piercing scream filled my ears. I got out of my cabin and went to investigate. As soon as I took just a few steps behind the cabin something caught my eye. A body. Ripped in half and soaked in dripping blood. I was petrified.

My head swiftly spun around as I heard leaves crunch closely. I wasn’t going to take any chances. So I sprinted like crazy until I got to the cabin. I swung the door open and launched inside, forgetting to shut the door. But I was too late. I could hear the raspy breathing behind my cold shoulder. I winced as a sharpened object carved through my skin and bones and out my chest. I took my final breath. My vision worsened then... darkness.
