The Flood
I looked out the window of the 5th story apartment building. The world was covered in darkness and the loud boom of the lightning was frightening. The wind was tearing at the abundance of apartment buildings in the eastern city. The skyscrapers were wobbling and the rain that is flooding the city streets is far from calming. The lights were flickering in the apartment, the lights were bound to go out, but he had to go. He was going to take the elevator until he heard the loudest boom yet and decided to take the stairs. As he opened the door to go outside, the wind was so strong that it blew the door wide open and almost broke it. He had to push his hardest to close the door.
The rain was so strong and plentiful, he was getting wet through his raincoat. The rain was so loud it was hard to hear the cars whizzing by. He almost got hit once or twice but the number of cars on the road was beginning to minimize. The thing that wasn’t minimizing was the amount of water on the ground. The water level on the ground was rising, a flood. He received a flash flood warning on his phone. The stores were all closed and the lights in the apartment buildings were starting to turn off. He was only five minutes away from the final destination. He was walking for what seemed to be forever. He arrived at his destination.
The hospital to visit his sick mom.
