the IMS Thermopylae
The IMS Thermopylae launched about five years ago when we lost contact with sector 3-7R. Our ship is one of the largest ships of the seventh fleet and is perfectly equipped for long travels. Our ship has multiple large and advanced farm systems which can produce enough food for the ship each year. These farms work differently than those on our home planet because instead of using seeds to grow food, our farms use any form of matter and reassemble its atomic structure to make food. This ship also has a team of engineers in charge of operating the gates. The gates are large mega structures that propulse slow-moving ships like ours to instantly traverse several light years. If most of the gates were not destroyed our journey would have ended a long time ago, but these gates are really difficult to manage and consume a lot of power compared to our thrusters and the guys on the engie team think that we have only enough power for a single propulsion from the gates. I wonder what would happen if our ship were to run out of power. We wouldn't be able to use our farms and we wouldn't be able to move or try to contact help. We would be doomed to all die of hunger or worse die from suffocation. I hope these engie are still maintaining our emergency power grid. I heard our captain say that we almost reached the last gate. We will finally help the people of 3-7R, but why couldn't they send someone to contact us? Why couldn't they contact us? What happened? All those questions that were floating in my mind would soon be answered. As the gate powered up, its flashing shining lights were a deep shade of blue. Our ship started to slowly traverse the gate and we would soon see what happened to 3-7R. When our ship fully emerged on the other side, what we saw was absolutely terrifying. We were powerless in front of this bizzare distortion of space-time. Our captain was shouting orders, telling us to avoid it at all cost. We tried to flee its gravitational field that was pulling us closer. We tried to move faster and faster but to no avail. In a few moments, we knew that we soon be part of this black hole.
engie is a slang used by the protagonist that means engineer.
