I woke up, slowly opening my big green eyes. Laying down on the cold hard dirt, I looked around, trying to figure out where I was. Humongous trees filled with beautiful orange, red and yellow leaves were fully covering the ground. I sat up and looked around this gorgeous forest. What happened? How did I end up here? I got up and started walking around this forest, looking for landmarks. The atmosphere was so peaceful and calm. I oddly felt safe and protected. A beautiful black cat laying next to a big tree then caught my attention. I smiled and walked towards it. He had big googly eyes that were staring right through me. Sensing no danger getting close, I started petting him.
“You’re a nice fellow aren’t you?” I said softly.
The cat got up and I did the same, still looking at each other. He then broke the stare and looked at my legs. Two seconds later, he walked straight through me as if I was a ghost! A wave of terror and distress took over me. Shocked and terrified as to what had just happened, I quickly turned around to look at this cat, but he was gone. Terrified as to what had just happened, I started running. I didn’t know where I was going, but all I had in mind was to escape.
“Hello? Is anybody here? I need help!”, I screamed repeatedly, while warm tears were running down my cheeks.
I need to find someone. There has to be someone somewhere in this forest! Not paying any attention as to where I was going, I tripped on a branch, and crumbled down to the ground.
“Hey, are you okay over there?” said a little girl, walking towards me. She had big curly hair and had greyish-looking skin.
I got up to my feet and ran towards her. A wave of relief and happiness came over me.
“Who are you? I need help finding my way back home”, I said in a panicked voice.
“My name's Renee, and you’re already home, silly”, she said in a giggle.
“What do you mean? Where are we exactly?”, I said confused.
“Well, we’re in the afterlife!”, Renee said, with a big smile. “You’re dead. Don’t you remember?”
