Writing challenge - 1-page stories

We have been in the cavern for three days. Three days, since we accidentally fell in. Me and my little brother Jack, alone, in total darkness. We haven't eaten in what felt like forever. I was losing hope of us ever getting out. We might as well die here. I laid Jack, freezing cold from the temperature of the cavern, on the ground. Then I laid down. I was ready to give up. But some part of me told me to keep going. That we were going to make it out. I push myself to my feet, and see something I haven't seen for so long. Light! I rushed toward it. It was a candle, still lit. I held up the candle, and looked around. Everything was so much brighter! And then, I saw it. An exit, leading outside. I picked up Jack, who was now sleeping. And I knew, we still stood a chance.
