Two ghost hunters Sabrina and Max gazed up at the foreboding Diablo mansion, rumored to be haunted by an oozing green ghost with a drooping face, disjointed fingers splayed in all directions, a crooked nose, and a void for an eye.

Their flashlight beams jittered in their trembling hands as they cautiously ascended the steps into the mansion. Their nerves relaxed until the door slammed behind them. The inside of the mansion was littered with overturned chairs and tables, broken glass, cobwebs, bats, and a fan that turn on its own in the still, dusty air. This mansion in Hybrid Falls was home to the late Diabolus Scranton who was a mean old man with one passion: money. As a lifelong incompetent slacker, he had inherited all his money from his father and was only obsessed with keeping it. Town folks claim he haunts his rotting mansion and will shock with lightning anyone unlucky enough to see him.

Sabrina and Max believed they had developed a machine that could control him, but remained nervous because it had never been tested. The Ionic Nullifier could absorb a direct lightning strike, and store it in a giant capacitor. They turned on the machine and within moments a crackling green mist was sucked from the next room with a nasty slurping noise. They dragged their machine back to the front yard of the mansion, and detached the glowing barrel from the back. They told him he could relinquish the mansion and never harm anyone again, or else they would flip a switch that would vaporize him. A few sparks and a moan of anguished consent came from the barrel. Sabrina pressed the DISCHARGE button and a lightning bolt shot into the clouds.

The mansion was knocked down the next day, and after five busy months, the gleaming new Hybrid Falls Inn was standing in its place. Some say that their lights still flicker and the water randomly turns on, but a few of them say that they see Diabolus Scranton on the lawn outside, plotting his revenge.
