What was your favorite part of this year? This could be about an assignment, a teacher, or a school experience.

Even though we couldn't be together this year, what is your silver lining of 8th grade?(Shout out to a friend, family, experience, or teacher during distance learning). 

My favorite part of this year was my birthday. At first, I didn't like the idea of having school on my birthday. However, when I got into class the teacher and many classmates wished me a happy birthday. During French Mr. Dahl played a birthday song in French. Mr. Santana, Mr. Mullen and Ms. Sveiven all congratulated me on my birthday. All these birthday wishes made me happy and made my day special.

Even with distance learning, my classes did feel welcoming. My teachers and friends have given me many laughs over this year and even while we are far apart in distance, I feel that many of us are close in our bonds.

In English, we learned all about different types of writing, such as narrative and informative. We read a novel called "The Giver" by Lois Lowry and many news articles, some fake and some reliable.

I determined whether the article was credible or not. I chose this article because I am an avid boba drinker and wanted to know how much the boba industry was being affected.

In this assignment I gave a short summary of the 12 planets in our solar system, the Sun and Pluto. 

In Science we have been learning about Astronomy and Non-contact forces! Students have studied the solar system, analyzed the planets, and created models of the solar system and Earth-sun-moon system.

In 8th grade math, students have worked with Number Systems, Expressions and Equations, and Functions, and will be diving in to Pythagorean Theorem, Geometry and Probability and Statistics for the remainder of the year.

In this assignment I found real world parabolas. I chose this assignment as I thought it was cool to see how many parabolas can be found in our daily life.

I chose this assignment because it reflects back on our softball unit. The softball unit was one of my favorites out of the P.E. units.

I chose these assignments because they help show what we have learned these lasts two weeks and the notes we take in class.
