pava parents,
our students and teachers are inspiring. when i see A student's assignment this year, I think of all the work that has gone into making that one snapshot of learning possible. the level of planning the teacher has gone through as well as the amount of focus and commitment the student demonstrated by completing the work on their own at home. this year has been a challenge for everyone, but Pava's effort to continue to bring meaningful, rigorous learning during distance learning has stayed strong. nevertheless, We look forward to the time when we can see all of our students in person and get to know them in the school setting. please enjoy this look at your child's learning. I look forward to meeting, talking, and laughing with all of you when we return to in-person learning.

This year in English class, I learned how to annotate, how to plan and layout my essays, how to dissect poems, etc.
with Mrs.Horowitz
My favorite assignment...
I chose the Immigrant Interview project because it allowed me to learn more about my family. Before this project, I did not know about my grandfather's immigration story, however, thanks to this project, now I do.
English
My favorite assignment
I chose this assignment because I feel this is the section I understood the most this year.
This year in Math, I learned about rounding decimals, order of operations, and absolute value. I also learned about integers. We learned about adding integers, multiplying and diving integers, etc. We also learned about fractions and mixed numbers. The fractions portion of the year helped me to better my understanding of fractions.
Math
My favorite assignment...
I chose this assignment because I enjoyed learning about the element that I chose for this project. It was very interesting to learn about all the different aspects of an element.

History
with Ms.Rivera
This year I learned about ancient civilizations. I learned about the Mongols of China, native Americans, and Africa. Learning about history helped me to understand other cultures, and taught me to learns from the mistakes of the past.
with Mr.Herrera
In the beginning of the year we learned about the food pyramid and the body systems. We then learned about substance abuse. We also learned about sexual education and how to stay safe. Towards the middle of the year we started working on our digital lockers. We then moved into chemistry. We stated learning about elements and molecules, compounds, etc. We started learning about matter as well. Then we worked on our periodic hero projects. We chose an element and did research to learn about it. Recently, we learned about balancing equations.
Science
I chose this assignment because not only did I get to learn while completing this assignment, but I was also able to draw on and personalize my timeline.

My favorite assignment...
I chose this assignment because it helped me learn about Black heroes. This assignment also helped me find new role models.
Although my year was different than those in the past, I am grateful I was able to continue learning despite coronavirus. My year was filled with learning and bonding with my classmates. I couldn't have asked for a better 7th grade experience.
