Message from our Coordinator

pava parents,
our students and teachers are inspiring. when i see A student's assignment this year, I think of all the work that has gone into making that one snapshot of learning possible. the level of planning the teacher has gone through as well as the amount of focus and commitment the student demonstrated by completing the work on their own at home. this year has been a challenge for everyone, but Pava's effort to continue to bring meaningful, rigorous learning during distance learning has stayed strong. nevertheless, We look forward to the time when we can see all of our students in person and get to know them in the school setting. please enjoy this look at your child's learning. I look forward to meeting, talking, and laughing with all of you when we return to in-person learning.

with Mrs.Horowitz

In this class, we have learned a lot. Mrs.Horowitz has taught us all about thesis statements, types of conflict, and note taking. We have read the book Refuge by Alan Gratz and are in the process of reading The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. We recently made a biography book report about a person who inspires us. We also worked on a project about immigration and refugees that went along when we read the book.

My favorite assignment is the Biography Book Report

This was my favorite assignment because I got to research about a person who inspires me. I chose Selena Quintanilla. I was able to learn new things about her and write a report from her perspective.

My favorite assignment is the Arcade Fundraiser Performance Task

This is my favorite assignment because it was fun to solve the problems. They seemed to be like real world problems. It was educational but super fun to complete at the same time.

I have learned so many new things this year, I have learned how to solve real world problems using math. Things such as Discounts, Tax, Tips, Mark up,
And percents. Mr.Gardner had taught us how to solve math problems with exponents, variables, and integers. We have learned so many new ways to solve problems. As well as solving roots and percent of change.

This year in class, we learned multiple interesting things. In the first semester, we learned about the food pyramid, nutrition, and body systems. We also learned about substance abuse as well as sex Ed. During the first semester, friendships were also a big topic. In the second semester, we transitioned into Matter, materials, etc. Not only that, but we also learned about changes of stage regarding the three main states of matter, liquid, solid, and gas. We also went into the Periodic table and learned about many elements, atoms, compounds, molecules, and how they are formed. We also learned about both Physical and Chemical properties. We learned how to identify if it was a Chemical change or Physical change. We were taught about chemical formulas and equations. Soon, we are going to move to our next lesson which is The Flow of Energy.

In history class, we learn all about our past ancestors, and people who lived before us. We learn about how the things we know today became, From the first ever printing press, to the discoveries of lands we know today. We get to know about people who had a big impact on society such as Wu Zetain, one of the most powerful Chinese Empress
