pava parents,
our students and teachers are inspiring. when i see A student's assignment this year, I think of all the work that has gone into making that one snapshot of learning possible. the level of planning the teacher has gone through as well as the amount of focus and commitment the student demonstrated by completing the work on their own at home. this year has been a challenge for everyone, but Pava's effort to continue to bring meaningful, rigorous learning during distance learning has stayed strong. nevertheless, We look forward to the time when we can see all of our students in person and get to know them in the school setting. please enjoy this look at your child's learning. I look forward to meeting, talking, and laughing with all of you when we return to in-person learning.

this year we learned about annotation, making inferences, and how to work in groups, at least in my opinion.
My favorite assignment...

Johnny's Trial Guilty or Innocent
Johnny's Trial Guilty or Innocent
I enjoyed this project because it was a group project, and I always enjoy group projects, because then I always feel motivated to do the work. I also enjoyed this project because at least for me you had to fight against the urge to just use your emotions and use what would actually hold up in a court, haha. I enjoyed it because you had to use cognitive thinking.
English
arcade performance task
My favorite assignment

the arcade fundraiser
the arcade fundraiser
I chose this assignment because, I guess that I just enjoy performance tasks. I really like stuff like this when it comes to math. It's like your actually planning this fundraiser, and I don't know, that intrigues me.
in this class we learned about integers, fractions and real numbers, unit rates and proportions, percents, powers exponents and root, and simplifying algebraic equations, so far.
Math
Periodic Table Hero Project
i chose this assignment because i love creating character backstories and this project gave me the opportunity. i also particularly enjoyed this because we got to pick our own element and i got to pick arsenic, which is one of the coolest elements in my opinions.
History
with Ms.Rivera
we learned about rome's decline, the byzantine empire, early christianity, the early church, christianity in europe, medival europe, fuedalism and the rise of towns, kingdoms and crusades, culture and the church, the late middle ages, a "new" faith, the spread of islam, life in the islamic world, the lassical age of china, hinduism and buddhism, and islam in india. and that was all in the first semester. so far in the second semester, we have learned about early japan, medival japan, the first americans, life in the americas, north american peoples, the rise of african civilizations, and finally, africa's government and religious beliefs.
with Mr.Herrera
In our science class we have learned relatively lot. One thing that we learned about first was health, both mental and physical, we also learned about suicide hotlines. We learned about healthy eating habits, the food pyramid, and the effects of exercise on the body. We also had a sex-ed course. We learned about hormones, the LGBTQIA+ community, dominant and recessive traits, and the differences between male and female genitals. Another part of the sex-ed course was how to prevent an unplanned pregnancy and abortions. We learned about substance abuse, specifically smoking, drinking, otc drugs, etc. We also learned about how to balance and calculate chemical equations. This was my least favorite part of science class, I just hated it and still do, haha. We also learned about the states of matter. A lot of stuff we learned from Mr. Herrera and we also did edpuzzles, which told us about nuclear energy, climate change, bacteria, etc.
Science
i chose this assignment because i love doing sketchnotes and drawing. i also chose it because it was an important part of the lesson we were on.
Create A Samurai/ Bushido Code Doodle Notes
P.E
Morning Gestures
(yeah so i couldn't put a link here because it was on a form and i couldn't find it in my drive, so yeah)
i chose this assignment because it was simple and fun. i was doing movements i did almost every day, and just exaggerating them, and it was loads of fun.
overall, i have had a pretty great year(despite the pandemic, lol). i have some stuff that i need to work on, mostly getting in some late assignments, but i am happy with my year so far and am excited to continue it.
