A Shakespeare-inspired sonnet
by Nova Sutherland
About the Author
My name is Nova Sutherland, I am 16 years old and I am a student at St John's DSG in Pietermaritzburg.
I love to spend time outdoors and with any and every kind of animal. I prefer to spend my time reading a book or watching a good movie rather than going out. I enjoy writing all kinds of texts from screenplays to poems in my free time and use every opportunity in school to present my creative
writing skills.
My lord visits me, whilst the white sun shine'd,
The genuine magnificence o' the midnight concerta.
His eyes not a fairytale's, a cold blue stare into my mind,
His voice, not a sweet lullaby, but a glorious librette.

All ladies grovel before thee, but thee swore thee shan't depart.
Swore by heart to keep mine with continuous care.
My king, thy holds the liability of mine heart.
Thy love unconditionally true and fair.

Paramount is I to thy and thy to I,
Our affinity nay fake nor lust.
Therefore our bond will be as limitless as the sky,
While strong and just in each other is our trust.

You profess whilst a whisper, "You are my life, soul, and light,
I shall see thee the next white sun, come midnight."
