Swoosh Swoosh I stand by the sea. The blues and greys weigh heavy on me. Blue is my sadness. It’s my time to weep. A tear rolls down. Salt stings my wounded feet. As tears and sea mingle in a single flow, A feeling of anger starts to burn low. I see fiery red I am angry with them. They destroyed my home now where will I roam? Where are the leafy green canopies? Where are the birds that fly free In a world of jungle green trees? Green was my home, The earth where I roamed. But now it’s all brown, deserted and dry. Look up at the grey smoke-covered sky! In the dusk, grey turns to black. Black is my fear of the danger that’s near.

The inspiration for my poem is a report by World Animal Protection called “Collateral Damage”. The report describes wild animals and their habitats as the collateral damage of factory farming and the extensive land it requires for producing animal feed.

I cry and I’m scared. I shout for my friend; The one who really cares, Who painted me orange and black - The colours of the brave. And, as I cry my last tear O, God give me courage To override my fear; Or at least a sign That the green heavens are near.

Not green with envy, But green with fear. I hear your footsteps coming near. Not green with envy, But green with stress, I need to become less and less. Less visible / to you, For fear of what you might do Like liquid flowing from a glass, I slowly ease myself into the long, green grass. Inch,by inch, I disappear. Not completely invisible, I fear. Closer and closer I hear you come. Your footsteps beating like a drum. Lying still in the long, green grass, I hear your footsteps finally pass. At long last, I am green with relief.

For now I am safe from your ignorant belief, That every green snake is out to attack. Have you not seen the black spots on my back? A harmless green bush snake. The bush is my home. ”Please,” I whisper, ”Just leave me alone.” All I want is to be left in peace, When oh, when will your ignorance cease?

A bro I know Thought he could grow his biceps blowing bubblegum. The more Bro-Bro blows The more Bro’s biceps grow. Bro-Bro blows blueberry bubblegum bubbles. Bubbles of bubblegum Bro-Bro blows! As Bro-Bro blows, The bubblegum bubble grows. As the bubblegum bubble grows, Bro-Bro’s biceps grow. Bro’s biceps grow And grow Until Oops! Bro-Bro’s biceps pop!

There once was a man from Peru Who didn’t know what to do. Like a mole, He dug a hole All the way to Timbuktu.

There once was a man from Peru, Who was missing a brain cell or two. He looked in his ear, For he was struggling to hear. Perhaps they were stuck there like glue?
