Valentine's day

Valentine’s Day is on February 14th.
It originated as a Christian feast day in honor of one of the first Christian martyrs called St. Valentine and, through later traditions, became a cultural, religious and commercial celebration around the world.

Saint Valentine was a priest from Rome who was sentenced to death in the 3rd century because he defended the right of soldiers of the Roman empire to marry.

The emperor Claudio II believed that soldiers who had a stable union did not perform well. So he decided to prohibit marriages.
Valentine, who decided to hold weddings in secret, was discovered and arrested. In prison, he fell in love with a woman and, in one of the love letters, he would have signed "from your Valentine". So it is common to write a card on Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day around the world:

France:

In France, Valentine’s Day is celebrated across the country. Many cards are sent all over the country.
Another curiosity of the country is the tradition of couples to plant a tree together. In theory, this gesture would represent your love, which will grow and flourish.

Italy:

Many Italians celebrate the Valentine's Day going out for dinner and exchanging presents.
A difference is that Italians have a national symbol for Valentine's Day, the Baci Perugina chocolate.

United States:

Valentine’s Day in the United States has become a huge holiday.
The famous holiday in the United States is about talking about love in general, even with family and friends.
Handmade cards are much loved.

Independence Day

It is one of the biggest parties in the USA.

Americans celebrate Independence Day with different activities, one of the most popular being the fireworks display, which takes place in the four corners of the country.

The celebrations date back to July 4, 1776, the date on which the Declaration of Independence was printed, which is when the country is considered to have been born.

The first fireworks were used as early as 200 BC. The tradition of setting off fireworks on the 4 of July began in Philadelphia on July 4, 1777, during the first organized celebration of Independence Day.

On June 7, 1776, Virginia attorney Richard Henry Lee filed a motion in the House to declare independence.

Many congressmen agreed, but thought that some colonies were not yet ready to take that step at that time.

The committee presented the final version to Congress on June 28, 1776. The text was approved on July 2.
