"Claire, I'm not sure if I ever told you, but... I'm German." murmured the boy. "But, Lukas... My grandfather is here, in this train! If we don't do anything, he will DIE! And not just him! The leader of France, and every single person..." said Claire. "Claire..." whispered Lukas. "Don't abandon me now! Please!" shouted Claire. Lukas looked through the window. He sighted. "Fine. What's the plan?" "I can help!" a voice resounded in the compartment. "Sidney!" "Yep, it's me. I've been here in a while, trust me. I know this train perfectly. Follow me!"

Claire searched for the bomb, but it was nowhere to be found. She could hear its timer, though she couldn't see it. But, then... A little, iron object was laying under the seats. She picked it up. But it was too nice to be that easy. Suddenly, someone entered the room. But it wasn't Sidney, nor Lukas. "Hi, kid!. You should have remained in 2021, with your friend." said Mr. Daan. He was dragging Lukas after him. Mr. Daan was holding a gun. "Lukas!" shouted Claire. Mr. Daan was smiling maliciously. "If you stop the bomb, your friend is dead", murmured Mr. Daan. Claire looked at the timer. They had only one minute left. "If you don't drop the bomb, your great-grandfather, Louis Badeaux, is DEAD. So, choose: either Louis is alive, but Lukas is dead, or the other way around?"

"HOW did YOU get HERE?!" Claire whispered to Lukas: "Why should we tell him?! He looks like a strange, old, crazy inventor who wants to KILL US!" "Oh, c'mon, Claire, you should really stop watching stupid movies! He can help us travel back to 2021! Maybe he wants to kill us, but I`d rather die trying to get back home than die here, in a war!" "I don't like saying it, but you're right!" she started talking louder. "Mr. Daan, you see, we had a History project about World War I. And... we went to the History Museum... And... The guide told us not to enter a room... And... He dropped the passcode... And...we entered... And there was a strange machine... And from now you know the story." "I'm dead. I'm so, so dead!" shouted Mr. Daan.

"So?" asked the man. "Well... You won't believe us if we tell you..." murmured Lukas. "Oh, won't I? Well, if I told you I had created the time machine that took you here, would you believe me?!" The children stared at each other, not saying anything. The only one who broke the silence was the tall guy. "By the way, call me Mr. Daan. Welcome to 1918." The silence became even quieter. "You... You created THAT time machine?!" Claire's voice resounded. "If I said no, you would call me a liar. Still, you didn't answer my question.

First, they went to the History Museum to find out information about World War I. The guide told them not to enter one of the rooms until he was back. There was one room that caught Lukas' attention because it needed a passcode to be opened. When the guide left, a little piece of paper flew out of his pocket. Lukas picked it up and saw that there was a code on it. He thought that maybe it was the passcode to enter the strange room. He was right. The door opened and the boy stepped into the room. Claire followed him.

"What!? It can't be true!" said Lukas. "It's true!" said Claire. "I don't believe you! Even if they did, I'm sure they had a reason!" said Lukas clearly annoyed. "Come on, Lukas! Oh gosh..." While they were talking, a German saw them and hid behind a tree. He sneaked on the children and grabbed their arms. The kids were really scared! "What are you two little kids doing here!? Huh?" said the impostor. "We didn't do anything, sir!" said Claire, her voice trembling with fear. "Well, you two are coming with me!" said the German while grabbing the poor kids.

He brought them into some big cages and boxed them in. "You two stay here! We found out about your plan!" said the German, who was very angry.

The inventor kicked the children out. Lukas and Claire were alone in 1918. They climbed up the stairs in the basement and they stepped on the battlefield. The atmosphere seemed to be peaceful. "Where are we?!" asked Lukas. "I don't... Wait. What are those over there?" asked Claire, pointing at some things in the distance. "Hold up... Those are houses! This is the place where the Museum was built!" realised Lukas. "Isn't... Isn't that my house, 103 years ago?" "I don't think Mr. Daan will let us enter his lab so... It's not like I want to go there anyway!" said the boy.

They entered the small bunker. Inside, there were many things and a bed. "How strange!" said Claire "You are right! Still, there are some things that we have in our rooms at home!" said Lukas. "Look, there is a basement!" "Let's take a look!"

Claire heard a timer in the second compartment, where their cages were placed. "Oh, no!" said Sidney. "More Germans! And they are angry!" "Sidney, can you handle those Germans while I stop the bomb?", asked Claire. "But, Claire... It is a bomb! You will die!" shouted Sidney. "Worry about yourself and those Germans, Sidney!. Goodbye!" And she then ran to the second compartment, hearing Sidney say: "FOR CLAIRE AND LUKAS!!!!! FOR ANTANTA!!!!!!!!"

When they entered the room, the kids saw a really big and strange machine. The 12-year-old kids stared at it. Obviously, you don't see a big strange machine every day, right? So like any kid, Claire went to take a closer look at it. As she got closer she accidentally pressed a button. The machine started. Claire dragged Lukas with her into the machine. At that very moment, they fell asleep.

She quickly unlocked the door and they were finally free. The carriage was empty, and there was no one besides them there, or that was what they thought. The moment they got out of the cage, a German from the back of a chair jumped in front of them. The kids were scared, he had a gun. They could be shot any minute. But Claire was very clever, so she grabbed the rope they used to take the key and hit the German's hand, he dropped the gun. The kids took the pistol and ran to another carriage. In that carriage there were some Germans dressed in British army uniforms, setting up a bomb. The Germans were too busy to notice the kids. So, the kids stopped and hid under a small wooden bench. They had to stop this, and they knew they didn't have much time. "We can just let them blow up the train, we are going to die anyways!'' whispered Lukas. "THINK POSITIVE, LUKAS! '' said Claire.

Claire looked at Lukas. "Do it, Claire! Stop the bomb! You'll save the whole world!" whispered Lukas. "Oh, SHUT UP!" shouted Mr. Daan. "You have 30 seconds left, Clarisse Badeaux! SAY IT!" Claire whispered: "Fine...! Here you go!", she whispered. "NO! NOOOOOOOO!!! CLAIRE, DON'T DO IT!" shouted Lukas. Suddenly, Sidney jumped in, hitting Mr. Daan. "Claire! STOP IT! STOP THE BOMB!!!!!" 5... 4... 3... 2... Lukas covered his ears. 1... The bomb didn't explode. Claire did it.

After saving the train, Claire and Lukas were kind of sad because they didn't want to leave their new friend, Sidney, behind, but they didn't have a choice. They needed to go home. Both of them missed badly their families. The kids went back into the bunker and stared at the machine. The same machine that took them in this horrible time, the war time. Neither of them knew how to unlock the machine. Soon, they heard some footsteps and hid behind some boxes. The creator of the machine appeared in the room. He pressed some buttons in a certain order and the machine opened. The kids ran towards him and pushed him in. Right after that, they all jumped into the machine, too. Claire set the machine time to 2021 and they got back home, safe!

On that day, nobody knew what they did... But, for sure, it changed something in a good way. After all, Claire and Lukas got an A for their History project. Finally, both of them were happy, but the creator wasn't.

Most people thought that Claire was just a normal twelve-year-old girl who liked History a lot. It was the last week of school before the summer holiday and for Mr. Rossi, the History teacher, his last week of teaching. On that occasion, he asked his students to write an essay about anything they found interesting. Thus, every kid had to pair up with their deskmate. Claire's was Lukas; they hated each other, but for the sake of their History teacher, they teamed up.

They entered the main compartment with their new friend Sidney. They hid under some chairs. The kids didn't have any idea of how to stop the Germans so they decided to go outside. First, Claire went outside, then Lukas and last Sidney. "Oh gosh...we are gonna die." said the blond boy "WE ARE NOT GONNA DIE BOY" shouted Claire "WE ARE" shouted back Lukas "Guys-" tried to speak the brown-haired girl "What?!" shouted the kids "W-well we shouldn't shout...you know...we are still right next to the train with some angry Germans", said Sidney "Oh yes...right!" said Claire. "Well..., does anyone have any idea?" spoke up Lukas. "Well, I don't really know how they plan to stop the train...maybe with some explosive 'cause like I saw them with some things that looked like bombs..." said Sidney. "Sidney!!!You're a genius!!!" tried not to shout Claire.

Claire is a student at the ''International College''. She is twelve years old and  lives in London. Claire is a normal girl like you and me. In this book you will find out how her intellingence will help her solve some problems.

Lukas is a student at the same college as Claire. He is also twelve years old and he lives in London, too.

Mr. Daan is a crazy inventor that wants to change the course of history.

Mr. Rossi is their very old History teacher who will ask them to write their last project.

Unfortunately, the kids were closed in the cage and nobody could save them. But Sidney was sure that Claire and Lukas could find a solution. The Germans were infiltrated in the train and Claire was worried. Lukas inspected every inch of the train carriage. When he saw a little thing on the floor, he knew what it was. On the floor lay the silver key from the cage. Claire knew how to take the key because she saw a rope next to them. She threw the rope to catch the key then, she opened the cage.

They suddenly woke up. In front of them, there lay a barren land. In the frozen wind, ash was floating lightly in the icy air. "Where are we? What is going on?" asked Lukas. "No clue!" answered Claire. But the boy didn't hear her. In the distance, a huge tank was coming towards them. "RUN!!!" shouted Claire. "Over there! A bunker!" said her deskmate. "The door won't open! Oh, wait, here's the key..." They ran inside.

The kids were really scared... Not noticing, a brown-haired short girl was standing behind them. Her eyes were&nbsp;watering. "Hi... What's your name?" said Claire. "H-h-hi... My name is Sidney..." said the girl, crying. "That's a cool name! But, why are you scared?" asked Lukas clearly worried. "Did they kidnap you, too, guys?" asked the short girl. "The Germans? Yes..." said Claire. "Hey, do you know anything about them? Plans or something?" asked Lukas.

"Yes, I know something. But first, tell me your story! How did you get there?" The kids started to explain the story to Sidney. She was so impressed, but, let's be honest! Sidney was more scared than they were.

"Lukas, you make sure nobody enters the main compartment! Sidney and I will climb on the train and stop the Germans", said Claire. Lukas didn't answer. He just remained there, watching the girls get away. The wind was blowing outside, and the speed of the train wasn't making things easier. A crowd of Germans was standing on the vehicle. "Hey! How in the world did you two get out?! Where's the boy?", asked a man who saw them in the cage. But, Claire didn't care. She grabbed her phone and opened her flashlight. "What are you doing...?", asked Sidney. "You'll see!" Claire turned the flashlight to maximum intensity and put it in the German's eyes. "Ah! What is that?!" shouted the Germans. "C'mon, Sidney!" They ran to the impostors and threw them off the train. "But, wait!" shouted Sidney. "The bomb is already set!"

"Hey, Claire! Watch this!" "Lukas, we're literally blocked in a bunker and you want to play video games?" said the girl, annoyed. "No! There's a door here! And it can only be opened by scanning this QR code!" "Lukas, there's a WAR outside! How can there be QR codes here?!" "You tell me." answered the boy. Suddenly, Lukas' phone made a "BEEP!!!" and the wall... opened. "What in the world..." a voice from the other side of the wall whispered. A tall man wearing modern clothes stared at the kids. Behind him, the time machine shown. "How did you two little naughty children enter?! Oh, wait..." Claire realised he was looking at Lukas' phone. "Umm... Excuse us, sir, we... We're sort of... lost..." said Claire, quietly. "I see. But if you want my help, answer this question: How did you two get here?!"

The children went to Claire's family house. It looked very strange without the last renovation. Lukas went upstairs. He hesitated. "Did people in 1918 use to knock?" he asked. "No, they used to enter through the window." said Claire, on a sarcastic tone. Provoked, Lukas knocked three times. A man with short, blond hair and hazel eyes was watching them. Claire remembered the black and white photo in her father's room. She was looking at the same man, but in a 3D version. ,,Hi, great-grandfather..." Lukas stopped her before she finished the sentence. He whispered into her ear: "You can't say that you are his great grand-daughter from the future!'' Claire looked again at her great-grandfather and said: "Sorry, sir! My name is Claire and he is my friend, Lukas." "Good morning to you too, kids. What are children like you looking for here?'' "Excuse us, sir, but we're lost. Could you help us?'' said Lukas hurriedly. "Of course, of course. Come in. Call me Louis." "Thank you, Mr. Louis!'' The children went inside.

Claire stared intensively at every single object that wasn't in the same place as in her house in 2021. Once, she started opening the cupboards to see if her chips were still there. "Is there anything wrong, madam?" Louis asked. "Oh, no, no, of course not, I was just... I was..." "Don't worry, I don't hide Germans in the kitchen." "Yeah, of course you don't, I was just..." Claire stopped when Lukas nudged her.

They went into the living room. "Have a seat, please. Feel at home. If you have one. So, tell me what is your problem?" "We don't know where we are. Could you, please, tell us?" "Huh, well, you're in London. I'm French. No, not as in French fries. The peace agreement will be signed soon, so I'll have to be on that train. That's why I'm in England. But, what can I do to help you?" "Just the fact you told us where we are is enough." "Oh, don't be modest! You can stay here as long as you wish." "No, really, it's enough, we have to go." said Lukas. "Alright. I have tea..." "NO." said the kids at the same time. "Allright, allright! Have a great day!" said Mr. Louis. "Thank you! You, too! Au revoir!" shouted Claire. They went to the garden. Claire looked really panicked. "Lukas, we have to talk!" "Are you OK? Is everything allright?" "You know what almost happened on that train, don't you?" "No...!" "Do you really play Minecraft in the History class?!" "Oh, just say what it is!" "The Germans almost blew up the train!"
