I remember waking up on this gorgeous sunny day, this was the day that I have been waiting for. I was finally going to meet you! In a few hours, I was going to carry you, while you would happily lick my fingers. I would finally have a best friend that would love me no matter what! I was so happy.
When I first saw you, I knew you and I would have an unbreakable bond, I knew that you would appreciate me and never leave my side. When you saw me, you gave me a small bark and wagged your tail happily while jumping into my arms. I wanted to protect you with my life, and I knew you also did. When we got home, you were so excited to feel all these new scents, but the best, you liked my room. That is where we spent some of our happiest memories and some of the worst. But no matter what, I would’ve never stopped loving you, and I have a feeling you wouldn’t too. You saved my life so many times…
Now I stay by the vet’s metal table, hugging you, desperately trying to reach something, that I know I will soon lose and never be able to reach again. I know that soon, all I will have left will be the memories…and that breaks me. I sit here muffling my cries in your fur, hoping for a last glance, maybe even a lick, but they never come. The love you gave me, the warm feelings ... all gone
but at least, you are in a better place, aren’t you?
