Once the whole class was off the shiny yellow bus the teacher said they could go inside the zoo. Inside the zoo, the class saw large lions, zany zebras and enormous elephants but no monkeys.

The class left the zoo and drove away on the shiny yellow bus. On the way back to school, Lucy told the teacher about her big idea. The teacher thought it was a great idea and agreed to help out.

The class got onto the bus and went to the zoo. Lucy hopped off the shiny yellow bus first. Lucy really wanted to see the monkeys.

Lucy told the monkey that she would help him, she just had to figure out how. As they were walking, Lucy got it. She had an idea of how to help the monkeys. She walked faster, she needed to get started right away. Lucy took the monkey back to its habitat and promised she would be back.

While the class was having ice cream, Lucy heard a noise in the bush. Rustle, Rustle. She walked over to the bush and looked in. There was a monkey! It must have gotten scared and escaped when the garbage was thrown into its home. Then the monkey got up and ran from the bush. Lucy followed it.

Lucy went and sat on the bench beside the monkey. Lucy found out that the monkey ran away because he was scared. People kept throwing garbage into his habitat and no one did anything to stop it.

When the teacher said they were going to move on, a kid she did not know threw garbage into the monkey habitat. Lucy did not like that he was treating the monkeys that way. When the garbage landed in the habitat the monkeys got scared and ran into the trees.

After Lucy talked to the visitors, she turned around and looked at the monkey habitat. All the monkeys were smiling. Lucy knew in that moment that she had changed the monkeys lives for the better.

It took some time but Lucy's plan finally came together. The class was headed back to the zoo in the shiny yellow bus. 

The class came to a habitat that looked empty but something moved in the trees. Rustle, Rustle. One monkey popped out of the trees. Then more monkeys came out and started swinging around. Lucy was so excited.

Lucy continued following the monkey until she saw it sitting on a bench. It looked very sad. She stopped to catch her breath then walked over to the monkey.

The class ran off the bus and went to get set up. They had to make sure they had all their supplies before they went off to the different sections of the zoo. Lucy grabbed her supplies and went to the monkey habitat.

It is morning and the class is getting ready to go on a field trip. They are going to the Zoo! The class is super excited!

Lucy thought it was going to be a normal trip to the zoo. She was wrong. The monkeys need her help. Can Lucy fix the problem?

Lucy put on her volunteer vest and her name tag. Her classmates were doing the same all throughout the zoo at the different animal habitats. Lucy started talking to the group of people that had now gathered around her. It started something like this... In order for all of us to do our part and protect the animals, please do not throw garbage into the habitats.

This book is dedicated to the K-3 students of Inglis School.

The monkeys saw Lucy coming towards their habitat and were so excited to see her. Lucy told the monkeys about her plan. They were so grateful that she came back to help them and the other animals.

The class kept walking. They saw giant giraffes, playful pandas and beautiful birds but still no monkeys.

Nobody saw the kid throw the garbage in the habitat except for Lucy and she was still upset about it when they were going to get ice cream. Lucy was going to find a way to do something about it but she did not know what to do yet.
