Kara Andrade, in an interview with students of them IB curriculum, delved into many life lessons such as belonging, legacy, choices and shame. A true inspiration.
Daughter of a coyote an immigrant, Kara faced many adversities when she was a little girl, but when the current journalist talked to the students to Colegio Miguel de Cervantes, she was not there to victimize herself.
Instead,she was there to inspire and discuss important issues with these young people.She didn't mince words when relating her life as an immigrant and herascension as a journalist.
Throughout her life, the Guatemalan journalist displayed immense courage and unwavering determination, overcoming the challenging era in Guatemala known as LaViolencia. From her humble beginnings in Bananera, where her mother worked passing people through the border illegally, to her journey of immigration to the United States, and her eventual ascent in the field of journalism, she exemplified remarkable resilience. Moreover, she founded Hablacentro, a foundation dedicated to aiding the people of Guatemala, showcasing her unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in her home country.
